I will say this after you receive a Tune run a Data Log after running the New Tune for 200 miles. Then have them check it mainly in the area of RPM Idle and Transmission Shifting/Performance.

I have noticed with the 2014 5.3 L83 and my nephews 2017 5.3 L83 after tuning the need to bump the Idle RPM's, very small adjustments. The 6L80 6speed Trans can produce nice results when tuned but it may take the extra Data Log to update the Tune for optimal performance and longevity.

What happened to your trans temps after the tune? Asking because after turning off TM and increasing line pressure 5%, my trans temps increased. (Diablo entune I3)

New to the forum, 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 All Terrain 5.3L.  Curious what is the best plug n play performance chip (OBDII Port) for this vehicle without fear of engine damage?  I know there are many, just looking for perhaps a "Top 3"

Do some research, this a popular topic.

Diablo and HyperTech are two of the top plug and play tuners.

The words performance chip needs to die, they haven't used EPROM chips since the late 80's and early 90's.

should be the same, if it runs hotter your either driving more aggressive or the tcc is completly disabled thus over working the fluid in the converter

i heard you need to install the upgraded pressure regulator in the trans before the increase line pressure actually works., this might be for max peak pressure i believe, but you wont get more pressure than what the factory regulator is giving. just leave the peak pressure tables alone  i'm always learning about this 6l80

Custom tune parameters? I just had my 2014 Silverado 6 speed replaced. Never had shudder prior which makes me think it had a PCM tune before I purchased. Shudder is really bad now as I drive the thing easy. I have a dyno tuner in my area that will tune this thing but as you say, most don't understand the shudder issue and what causes it. Even my trans shop which is reputable asked me to share with them how to fix shudder in these things. Here is what I have picked up and will be giving to my tune guy:

Disable DOD

Tcc apply pressure ramp

Tcc desired slip set to 0

Apply and release set 317 and 319

Zero out the TCC slip, disable the torque converter for gears 1-4 and only allow it to lock in 5th and 6th. But I increase the speed at which it does lock so it doesn't do it at 30mph type of thing. I push it out to above 40mph and nearly 50mph for 6th gear.

Anyone have anything to add/offer? I just spent $6K on this thing and trans has been replaced twice in last 10K miles (2nd replace under warranty).

Thanks

try adding slipp to the TCC, instead of 0. this has caused me severe vibration in v4 mode, so I went back to stock slip in v4 and no more vibes

if you dont mind loosing mpg, disable the tcc entirley and you shouldnt have any vibrations

what converter are you using?

Ordered the Hypertech Programmer for my 2018 6.2L. I had a discount come through my email and I purchased this canned tune for $234!!!  Regular $499. I think auto anything messed up on the discount but I didn't mind it one bit. Will be able to get rid of AFM, speed limiter, and adjust tire size/speedometer for my 22s, along with a bump of about 20 hp/tq.  I had this on my 2018 SLT and really liked it for what it is.

I didn't want to do a custom tune yet, because I do have a 5 year bumper to bumper warranty and I can return it back to factory settings with this system. Plus for $30 difference between a range system that shuts off AFM. I think it's a no brainer. It comes in Friday.

If you like your warranty you wouldn't put any tuner on of any sort.  Just because you can revert back to stock, it will still leave a footprint in the ECU which if you had engine failure under GM factory warranty, GM wants to see ECU data for modifications.
