BFG All Terrain vs. Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac

Which is better overall? I just need an all terrain tire that will last a good distance on my daily driver, with the occasional off road. I drive a 05 2500HD by the way. Anybody have experience with either tire? Recommendations?

I used these back to back on my old rig and feel the duratracs gave noticeably better traction in snow, ice and mud. They lasted longer as well. I'm not sure the duratrac can be beaten for all around use.

I ran bfg's on my work f-250. they wore pretty fast. And not that great in mud. Currintly running duratracs on my jeep. Great traction in everything ive thrown at them (lite rock crawling and mud). But ive only had them on for 8000 miles so i dont know about wear yet. + they look meaty like a mud tire without the road noise.

I wouldn't run a BFG for anything, not to mention it isnt a nice looking tire by any stretch.

I would suggest Duratracs, or Toyo AT2's. The Cooper AT3 is also an excellent tire. It boils down to what you want to do, in what kind of conditions, and the look you want.

I've been running duratracs year round for just over 3 years now. They have been fantastic. I did notice a slight drop in mpg, but less than 1 mpg drop on average. If you are looking strictly as a mileage tire then there are better options, but this tire is all around a great tire. I live in Alaska and it has performed well in everything from dry pavement, rain, deep snow, light snow, ice, gravel, mud, etc. the only terrain that I have to be a little more careful on is the smooth ice. Although unless you are running studs or chains, there are no good tires for ice. As long as I use common sense when it is icy, I have never lost control of my truck.

I researched what to replace the GY SRA's that I paid 200 to option as All Terrain tires (which they are definitely not) from GM as soon as I took delivery of my truck. I was close to BFG TA's but wear and road noise were noted by a number of people who have run them. A great tire but I do a fair amount of highway driving and wanted an all terrain tread that was good in the snow and ice but wasn't too loud, and that led me to the GY Wrangler AT Adventure with Kevlar. I only have 1500 miles on my 6.2 sierra SLT Crew Cab, but just drove 6hrs update NY and 75 miles in a snowstorm. The tires performed beyond expectations on 60 miles of snow covered highway, and around town in deep snow and ice also incredible. My previous vehicle was a 2010 Range Rover Sport Supercharged, which I had dedicated Bridestone Blizzak snows on in the New England winters so I have a pretty good idea of baseline tire comps for winter driving. Tracking in deep snow, cornering, braking, and turning, these GY's has surpassed my expectations. They are quiet on highway, and they look aggressive from both sidewall and treads. It's been fun driving in snow covered roads around town and watching out the rear view and side mirrors at the amount of snow these tires throw off. The SRA's are garbage and should not be designated as AT.
