Lifting tips

Recommended Posts

IMO, work truck = no lift. If you're going to be hopping in and out, using the bed, and towing a fifth wheel with it, a lift will make all that harder to do. That is if you can even still hook on to a fifth wheel. There are cheaper and easier ways to toughen up the front of a truck. For example, a good bumper. Cognito has support arms you can look into. There's a lot you can do. Something else to consider is that big tires will put a lot of stress on your truck. So you really won't be making it more durable.

And 2500 Sierra's are surprisingly large already with just some cranked t-bars and 35's, lift kits for IFS trucks aren't really built for hard core offroad/work use as far as I understand. My last truck was a lifted 1500 sierra and was and have been pretty happy i got rid of it. Then again the deapest snow I've ever driven through was less than 6" and that was exclusively for fun.

I have an 01 GMC 4x4 with the Cognito A-arms. Ever since I installed the Cognito A-arms, Balljoints(at first), idler arm kit and the inner and outer tierods, I've been having to replacing the balljoints. TSo far I've had terrible luck with the cognito stuff. Either it's luck or just a bad product and they don't stand behind it either. I had to get rid of the heavy duty tie rod kit and balljoints.

Can some tell me if there are heavier duty upper balljoints then the moog K6292 because those only last about a year and a half as well with the cognito upper A-arms. Not ready to thow away $700 just yet after getting rid of the $500 in parts already.
