5.3 versus 6.2

Recommended Posts

It would be much more powerfull than the 6.2 and way more torque and sound really cool...

Im gonna guess 455 hp supercharged w 6 lbs of boost

That's what I'm hoping for. They claim 105 extra hp/ft lbs. So should be around 460/488. It would have been cheaper if I had waited for the 6.2

Out of all honesty the most power and mileage will come from a 5.3 with a maggie or some form of FI!! Be incredibly fun!! And still be drivable! The 6.2 with a blower however would be awesome too but u make more power with a 5.3 with blower deffinately than just the 6.2 option!! Forced fed is the only way to go!!

i wonder how much a complete blower set up would be for the 5.3...2000 more for the 6.2

But at triple the price of the 6.2 option over 5.3, and bye bye to powertrain warranty...

Im pretty sure the Maggie kit is around 6,000$

I also think that most folks that would put a blower on a 5.3 will more than likely tune the 6.2 so both options have a possibilty of voiding warranty.

I agree. I already tuned my 5.3. How do you think a Magnuson Supercharger will be in the cold new England winters? I don't know anyone with an aftermarket supercharger who drives in frigid weather

I would think it would be ok considering its self contained oiling system. Im not real sure though. Id ask Magnasun probably n see what they thought. Like a turbo may not do as well oiling but I dont really know. My experience is in AL so Id call the company. However it would perform fantastic with cooler temps!! Blowers love that cool air!!!

Keeping my foot out of the gas would be my biggest problem. That's why I went with the 5.3. I drive so much that it would be more than a 2 mpg difference for me...haha.

Just FYI if you can find a Loves truck stop nearby alot of times they wont over price premium fuel!! Its usually around .20 cents more as to where alot of the smaller stations are like .40-.50 more. Thats what Ive noticed running the roads from Texas to PA anyways. Premium gas here in Jasper AL at Loves truck stop is 3.39per gal and reg is 3.19 per gal. My dads 5.3 with 3.42s is getting around 16 in everyday driving but thats local with alot of hills n stop n go. My 6.2 3.73s will get pretty close to that but I attribute 3.73s to little better mileage around town and think the 5.3 would actually b better with 3.73s.
