Stock Gear sizes

Recommended Posts

Sorry, I don't know what the gear size is...But when you are hitting it in reverse, all the weight is transferring towards the front of the vehicle.

When you hit it in 1st, all the weight is trying to transfer to the rear, improving traction.

I think I said that right.

Gear ratio's in the 4L60E are:

1st 3.06

2nd 1.63

3rd 1.00

4th .70

Rev 2.29

What Wingnut said is exactly right.  When you floor it in 1st gear, a lot of the weight of the vehicle shifts back and gives the back tires more traction.  When its in Reverse, the weight shifts toward the front of the truck making the tires a lot easier to spin.  I would be real careful spinning the tires in Reverse.  Driveline angles and stuff get screwy when the axle is torquing the other direction, and a lot of people break suspension parts and driveshafts spinning in Reverse.  Just an FYI  :)

Sweet Tahoe by the way!   :D
