Yes the 5.3 will Smoke the Rear Tires

Recommended Posts

I now have 3k on my 5.3 CC with 3.42 rear end I decided to see how it takes off from a light.I disabled traction control and punched it and was very surprised as it instantly grabbed revs and boiled the back tires. It was also a sweet sound coming out of the high revving small block.Yes everyone was right it does go when you put your foot into it.

How would it hold up to the dodge ram hemi 5.7. My fishing buddy has a 2013 dodge ram hemi 5.7 I have a 2014 chevy Silverado Z71 4x4 5.3 also his is 4x4 also. I know I got him on gas mileage. But we have an ongoing argument over who's truck would win in a flat out race. The race will never happen truck's cost to much to be raceing. But it's a fun argument. One other thing I have on him is he has to change his plugs every 30000 miles. And there is 16 of them. Got him on gas and plugs. And I think the 5.3 can take the 5.7. Love this truck. Don't like anything about the dodge. Anyway it's a fun argument.

why yes it does... I think these trucks would give the ecoboost a run for it's money in a drag race...

The 5.3 is an absolute dog compared to Ford's ecoboost. That's real world testing both with a 3.73 axle.

The numbers put out by both engines don't lie either.

I think it would be a good race within 1-2 car lengths in the 1/4 mile. I have not seen the k2 5.3 race the ecoboost stock v. stock so I don't know. my friend has an eco but we have never raced. the k2's are a little underpowered than the ecoboost for sure but with the weight differential I think it would be a good race. that's just my opinion.

My bro and I work together, he has a 10 dodge I have 345 gears in the gmc we happen to end up at the same light at 6 am I got him by a fender to 60. Not a race just getting up to speed, we don't do that kind of thing anymore.

My buddy has a 2010 Ram with the 390hp hemi, I am pretty sure it is faster than the 5.3 GM trucks. Now my 6.2 will put a hurting on the Dodge and the EB Ford.

Going to have to disagree, I took my bosses ecoboost with my 5.3

Having just traded in my 3.5 EcoBoost for a 5.3... the EcoBoost seemed a lot faster - although I haven't pushed the 5.3 yet because I'm still breaking it in. On paper, it should be no contest - EcoBoost should drag the 5.3 up and down the road. But then again, it's a Ford, so who cares? :)
