here is the new starter pt # 12655055

Just a followup--mine was built in early January in Mexico and it has the new starter:

I'm guessing that means everybody with a truck built around that time or later likely has the new starter as well and should have no problems related to it. It is possible to check with it on the vehicle as you can see, but it's not all that easy. I stuck my phone in there and started taking blind pics until I grabbed the part number.

Hi folks... this ignition problem just started for me this morning. No moisture (rain), dry conditions and sunny. Since I got my 14 Rado last February, I felt a weirdness in the ignition but couldn't figure out what it was. This morning, I got nothing on three attempts then it started as usual. I backward read the posts here (yes I'm lazy) to see if a solution has been implemented. It appears that it hasn't.

This is my third Silverado and my two previous models have been completely problem free... I feel that this 2014 model will be problematic.. not happy with all the problem issues on the Net.

Anybody having issues related to the "Theft Deterrent" system causing it to not start? I have less than 1,000 miles on my new '14 Silverado dbl cab & I've had it not start at least a half dozen times now in the last week & the DIC just flashes a Theft Deterrent msg on it & the truck doesn't start. I turn the key back off, open the door & lock & unlock the doors with the power lock button on the drivers door & have had pretty good luck with it starting after that. Sometimes it stays running just fine, other times it stays running & the theft deterrent light stays on until I get to my destination & shut the truck off.

Today was the worst it's been, this far. I had it happen 4 times today, each time it failed, I was ultimately able to get it started, but had to play with it for almost 5 minutes each time to find something that got it to turn over(locking and unlocking the doors, opening the door closing the door, locking and unlocking your steering wheel, etc.)

I haven't had a chance to get it into the dealer yet. I will be scheduling an appt this week, but any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Purchased new 2014 Silverado, 2wd, 8 foot bed, 5.3 on 1/10/2015 with 12 miles on it. With in ten miles of use then cold morning temps placed key in ignition one click then blacked out gauges then 2nd try it started. The next day cold in morning four attempts before starting(one click black out dash) The next morning four attempts again each time one click blacked out dash! Went to dealer and it already has new starter put in because of build date. So begins checking software and resistance of battery cables! Dealer could not produce the event he had the truck for two days and is keeping it for now. I went to try it my self and it started in 10 degree temps on1/17/2015 ! Unhappy five time GM owner will keep at it and let you know.

This sounds to me like a bad connection in the wiring somewhere. Not necessarily battery cables though.

New to this.

I have a 2015 gmc 3500 hd single wheel. I have 6.5 BDS lift on it with 35 inch tires. I put the lift on with 2000 km on the truck. Now I have 43000 km on it.

Iv seen some post about some 1/2 tone trucks with vibration problems

Well on my 2015 im getting vibration from 60 mph and around 75 mph. Any one Elsa having this or can help with find out what it is

It's not the tires I put the stock tires on and it's doing the same thing

Update on Silverado long bed 2WD Starting issues, Checked battery cables per my request and Dealer reprogramed computer( Said it accepted the information )I don't know what that means cause the truck only had 12 miles on it to begin with! Was it not programed correctly at the factory?

Michael. Mitchell.1029, I have a 2014 crew cab slt with 20" wheels. I get a pronounced hum/vibration between those speeds as well. Dealer is baffled. Been fighting it since the first week over a year ago. Test drove other trucks and noise isn't in all of them. I'm thinking differential, but who knows.

I Purchased My 2014 Silverado New, With in the first week, I experienced Electrical Dash board issues, No screen, system

resets. Messages Like open drivers window and Close, Anti theft deterrent disabled. the worst is turning the key and No starting. Dealer says they found no problems, during these visits. its been 4 years and still acts up. It seems random but sometimes goes thru what ever it fails to start. waiting then attempting to start again works but it is getting old. if I trade again it won't be for another GM vehicle. I have replaced the battery and cleaned all my connections including the grounds. it still occasionally repeats the starting issue.  I find the issue happens no mater how cold or warm it is, or dry or wet.

Have you checked the battery cables themselves? Some were known to have bad terminations, as in the cable terminal wasn’t installed correctly or was pinching down on the cable insulation instead of the actual copper wire.  Other well known issue is the distribution block for the positive.  Do a search on here, lots of people with very similar issues had their problems resolved by replacing these.

Had the exact same issues on my truck, its been a year since it was fixed and so far no more problems. A couple of small glitches with MyLink but nothing like before. My issue ended up being the negative battery cable, the whole cable needed to be replaced, battery was replaced at the same time and the body ground was cleaned.  Don't know if you have tried replacing the entire negative cable yet, but it could be a solution to your problems. It is a bummer that you have had to deal with issues for 4 years. Best of luck!
