Detonation

Recommended Posts

I was wondering if any of you could give me a little advice.

92 Blazer 350TBI.

Whenever I get in the throttle all the way, it starts detonating.  This happens all across the tach.

If I drive it hard, or stomp it a few times, I get a check engine light. Turning the ignition off, and then back on takes care of the light, but not the problem of course.

Therories abound in my head...Just wanted to see if you guys had any ideas that might help out though.

Thanks

I notice you have a chip in your sig for your truck.  I don't know if your chip requires 91 or better octane, but if your not running good gas, it will ping.  When I had a Fastchips stage II chip in my truck, my old man borrowed my truck one time and filled it with 87 octane, and it pinged really bad.

Since your throwing an SES light, I would have the truck scanned, and that will likely show you your problem.

I'm such a retard...I was changing the tranny filter yesterday, and while I'm under there I realize the knock sensor had somehow been "knocked" off. It was broken, but I went to pull-a-part, and got one on the cheap.

No matter how stupid you feel....It's always great when it's only a 4 dollar part.

I'm once again a happy man.
