What have you done to your K2 today?

Recommended Posts

Lowering the axle ratio (number is higher) makes the gears shorter so you can get up to RPM faster, tow more, have more low end torque, and more fun! But it reduces your MPG and you'll be revving higher in your last gear while cruising on the highway.

Oh ok cool. Thanks for the knowledge! [emoji851]

It’s coming along quite nice!

^^ that's AWESOME Phil!!!

i know what you mean about cutting into the headliner.  i added an overhead console to my '89 chevy and i quadruple checked everything thing before i started cutting!  i think the only time i was more nervous with my old truck was when i was drilling into the back of the cab to add a third brake light!  ha!  good times!

Very impressive, if you have kids this will make long drives much more quiet.

I do have teenage boys, but rarely do we take the truck on longs drives. This upgrade was really just to understand the process and to document the install. Really to answer the - “Can it be done?” question. Yes it can! :)

When it comes to wires in a car I’m out.
It’s nice that you take time and show everyone how everything is done.

I appreciate it.

jgraves13 i love those wheels. I am leaning towards those or the six spoke ones they have.

Here's a pic I grabbed of the con 6 when I saw this truck the other day if it helps your decision at all:

Oh, it’s all “worked out”. Lol. Just needed to find the time to get it installed.

- HMI - Programmed (“unlocked”) for the Video Button and VIN
- DVD/BluRay - Programmed for VIN
- 8” Screen - Need new screen for HDCP decoder for BluRay/DVD
- Flip Down

Harnesses/Wiring

Programming Costs: approx

~$349 - HMI (using my factory HMI - must be 2016 or higher)
~$50 - DVD/BluRay Programming

~$400 in Programming

Hardware Costs:
- DVD/BluRay - $129 (ebay)
- Flip Down Screen - $50 (ebay)
- Flip Down Bracket/Bolts - $50 (GMPartsGiant)
- HMI - $0 (used my factory one - must be 2016 or higher)
- 8” Screen (for BluRay playback) - $0 (was able to salvage an damaged one that had the decoder in it)
- Misc Cables - $100ish (lots of trial and error here with a pile of cables that I couldn’t return or get my $ back on)

~$430

Grand total, under $1K
