What have you done to your K2 today?

Recommended Posts

Did you remove the plastic step pads and end caps before plastidip? I have considered doing the same to my step boards.

I did. I pulled the bars off the brackets that mount to the truck. Then pulled the end caps that are only held on by two screws each from the underside. The plastic pads are just snap fitted in with 7 or 8 tabs per pad.(which you can clearly see what your working with once you have pulled the end caps) Made it supper simple to do. One thing I would advise if you do go the plasti dip route is to do the entire underside as well as the top. That way it doesn't leave any lip at the masking line that could potentially start pealing.

If this doesn't hold real well as easy as it is to take apart I am going to buy some satin black vinyl wrap and go that route.

First time using Plasti Dip to black out the running boards. Surprisingly it turned out really well. Now to just see how well it holds up.20140629_180824.jpg

I did this on my '13 truck. It should hold up fairly well, except for two areas. 1... shoe kicks from getting in and out will scuff the PlastiDip and it will start to peel. And 2... don't blast it too closely with a pressure washer. Just a couple light passes should clean them.

Had my driver's side assist handle installed today... $90 and change dealer installed.

They also did the transfer case recall.

While i was there I complained about a scuff mark on the drivers side interior door... someone probably let the seat belt slap the door panel. The "scuff/abrasion" is about an inch and a half by a half inch, barely noticeable but I notice it. They took a look at it and the service manager said bring it back in 5 days and we'll replace the door panel! I was just looking for them to detail it out or something but the manager said the truck only has 300 miles on it, we'll just replace it!

Who is a happy camper... this guy!

Good deal, I will watch that thanks.

Removed the front air damn this morning. I was skeptical about doing it but it does look so much better without it and as soon as I can 500lbs of lawn crap out of my bed I'll see how bad the mpg is effected.

Done the mechanical install on the AMP power steps and tailgate lock solenoid. Hope to wire it up before the 4th, just like always I need more time.

Tell me more about the tailgate lock solenoid. Is this a power lock for the tailgate? Very interested!

Got all the wires routed to the point I just have to get them in the cab an connected. Figured it's late and I'd rather start inside when I'm not covered in undercoating. I still have to mount and wire the LED step lights also. Since I'm doing this all on the garage floor I put the motors on with the steps pulled up to give me room, but blocks me from doing the lights. Best part is you can't tell the steps are on right now.
