Just wanted to pass along some info on trouble I had with my ’14 Silverado.

All of a sudden I started getting “Service Stabilitrak” messages pop up in my message center in between the tach and speedo. When this happened, there would be a ding, the message would appear and then the steering wheel would jerk uncontrollably and unstoppable force left and right about 25 degrees several times. It happened once while I was parked and had just started the vehicle, then started doing it while I was driving. The end all to having it brought to the dealer for diagnostics was the day I was driving home from work and it did it repeatedly 8- 10 times throughout the 8.5 mile drive home. Called the dealer as it was doing it, and scheduled it in for the next day.

After the dealer running diagnostics on it, the entire problem stemmed from the positive battery terminal being loose.

Just wanted to post this issue so that if anyone was having freaky issues that come and go concerning the info center and operations of the truck they should check their battery cables.

I was told by the dealer to stop adding aftermarket stuff to the truck as the computer systems are so sensitive that any variance in voltage with cause havoc with the function of the truck.

I believe the battery terminal issue stemmed from having LED reverse lights installed which I have posted earlier to having issues with those causing the factory reverse lights stop working.

Now they are only wired to the battery direct and work via toggle switch…….

glad you got it fixed but if the positive terminal was loose no offense but that was probably just user error. no dealer likes people putting aftermarker stuff on but it is what it is.

if your dealer doesent want you adding aftermarket stuff, your going to the wrong dealer
If I pay 50K for a truck, Im going to do what I want with it. Really not sure how a loose battery terminal makes your steering wheel turn itself or all that you described, and surely some led lights have nothing to do with any of that
I think your service writer enjoys sarcasm too much

2nd oil change @4985 miles. Change the first 1 @ 980 miles... Saving my free 1s when it's cold. Such a easy job tho 15 min tops

Is it safe to assume this is the same oil or close enough as used at the dealer? (to avoid switching back and forth)

Yes it's just oil. I'll only put 0W-20 in this truck, dexon approved.
