What have you done to your K2 today?

Recommended Posts

Today I swapped the power plugs in the center cobsole tray for traditional cigarette lighters. I can't stand how they remove features like that that cost literally nothing extra in the end for them.

In any case the part number for these is GM 13502522. I got them from my old jeep but on rock auto these are 3 bucks each.

A small flat head screwdriver to push out the plastic pins holding it in and needle nose pliers to get the squeeze the metal tab towards the outside wall to make the removal of the cig lighter itself easier. I would refrain from doing that to both sides as it can make them too loose and shoot a molten hot cig lighter at random somewhere in your truck... It is a good looking rig, like the nose on our LTZ better though.

Mainly was drawn to the fact that it was victory red, not something you see a lot of, on a Tahoe.

Good call, loved my 04 lowered RCSB in Victory Red, it was a great color when clean.

is there any other parts GM sells for the smokers upgrade kit?, different ashtray, heavier gauge wire for the lighter?

Not that im aware. You really don't even need the GM part number for this lighter. I jist added it to make it easy for people to order from. If you looked for American style cig lighter sockets online they'd be the exact same. The real difference is the plug type in the back. The traditional American plugs look like a cross [emoji3583] in the back and euro and Japanese look different but couldn't explain it off the top of my head. As for the wire gauge, they are all rated for 12Volts so the only difference is just the plug being able to hold the lighter while its heating up. The wires are all the same, cause usually the dealership installs smoker packs and its just this plug swap and the removable lighter part and ashtray. Speaking of ashtrays, I haven't seen anything for the console, but I thought they had a little tray under the switch panel in the center of the dash next to the plug for trucks with the jump seat. IIRC....

Any plug from an American car should be just fine, I got these plugs from my 04 jeep grand cherokee.

In this picture, note the 2 pin vs 3 pins in the back. The 2 pin is the GM power plug and the 3 pin is the cig lighter socket from my jeep. You DO NOT have to repin anything. But these 3 pin sockets will stay on regardless of the truck being on. So they work at any time, which I like. I don't even smoke, I just wanted these in there cause you never know when a plug cig lighter is gonna be useful. More like just a small mod for the trained eye to appreciate. I mostly posted this for people who wanted to do this swap because they would use these for their intended purpose. 57c63993646af1368f10199cef606d78.jpg

I can’t find the vid for some reason but pretty sure it’s the one where you make the cup holder in the floor console removable and you have access to more storage below it. And you add magnets to it so you can just grab them and pull up quick to get there.

It looks pretty cool for those of us that carry, but I opted for the black bear magnet instead.
