Cluster would be awesome..but $$, and terrified to rip into dash will keep me away from that one for a bit

There's no ripping into the dash to swap the cluster:

  1. Pop off visor above cluster (just clipped on)
  2. Remove a few Torx screws

Disconnect the harness and the cluster comes right out ...

I like that button for the truck bed lights, does it need to have the key in the ignition to turn them on? I stay in apartment so I don’t need people pressing buttons draining my battery [emoji367]
No, no key needed, this works with the existing switch in the cab as well as independent, so you don't lose the in-cab function. You will tap into a constant power(trailer harness).

I haven't tested it for that long yet, but I would have to say it stays on till pressed again. When pressed, it's using the constant power from the trailer harness.

Followed a forum members write-up on adding a switch to the bed for LED lights to work independently from the switch inside the cab along with adding 2 additional LED strips along both side of the bed. And installed my new Denali cluster, thanks to Chris at WAMS for such a fast turnaround time in programming and sending it back, everything works. Now I see myself actually looking at my cluster more while driving.. ?

Also got the new AA interface update finally from Google and I'm liking the new look.

What's all involved in getting the android auto update?  Besides looking cooler any increase in performance or added features ?

You should have gotten the update via play store. I had the update, but didn't see the option in settings until I drove for a bit using AA. After disconnect, check settings and it's at the top as an option to enable the new look.

It keeps your last used apps on the top row and you get more apps on the screen. The bottom bar stay with all the screens so you don't have to go back and forth to control music and stuff. You can see that you have the option now to continue music where you left off once you connect again. It keeps the icon of the last app so you can go back and forth between apps. Dedicated notification button(for messages) and your calendar and other stuff can be voice controlled. It's default dark mode. It felt smoother to me when navigating, but I'm sure that's phone related and what's hogging up resources when AA is running. I'm sure I'm missing other stuff.
