FIPK question

Recommended Posts

I was checking out the K&N website and they don`t list an FIPK for a 2003 Silverado. I contacted them and they said they hadn`t developed one yet. What I would like to know is what has changed under the hood from the `02 model that would prevent me from using last years version of the FIPK on my 2003?

Well they have to get C.A.R.B. certified every yr i am sure.  Until they get certified i dont think they can sell their product.

This was the case for my buddy's 2002 GMC when he bought it.  K&N said they did not have a model for him yet.  After speaking with a few rep's they finally said, "yes the 99-01 would work fine....we just need to test it for the 03's (CARB testing)".

So, I would look under the hood of an 02 and compare the whole intake to your 03....I'd be willing to bet its the exact same setup.

Call 'em up and order it for a 2002.   :thumb:

Here it is straight from the horses mouth.

We have been advised by our R&D Department the 2002 kit will not work on the 2003 model.

Yeah, what he said.

I went ahead and installed a K&N filter today. Maybe later, if those new 300 hp F-150`s start getting too frisky I`ll do the FIPK and a bigger MAF sensor and throttle body. Thats about the limit on mods I planned on doing on the intake side.
