Rear slider...

Recommended Posts

I had a friend of mine put a CR Laurance Powr-Slider on my '02 X-cab. I believe they are the only makers of these for our trucks. He has been a professional auto glass installer for about 15 years, he put one on his '92 about 9 years ago and still has it with no problems.

I have no water leaks. One thing you will notice, however, is a slightly increased in-cab "road noise" over the factory rear glass even with the slider shut. I notice it and have heard from others that is the case with these. It is not loud or irritating, just there. I am happy with mine so far...if you are going to go through the trouble to put a slider in an X-cab or CC the power one is the only way to go IMO, unless you always have a rear passenger back there to open and close it for you

BTW- One of my coworkers called a truck place near here a few weeks ago and they quoted him about $450 installed.

I've looked into them.  The CR Lawerence would be my preference for a power slider.

However, I was thinking I would probably up the stereo some day soon and the slider will take up what little back wall there is for amps.  Since I have a shell, my tax return dollars are going for a Breezer Window with boot.  It's Avalanche like, with the addition a vent tilt.

I've installed a couple hundred sliders, and 2 or 3 power sliders, ont on my Nissan.  The CR Lawerence Powerslider is very nice, a must if you have an extended or crew cab.  Find someone very experienced to do it, but it's not that hard.  As for aftermarket manual sliders, I don't care much for any that are out now, but if you had to do with one, the CR Lawerence is probably the nicest besides the factory

I have cr powerslider on my 01HD and there is some more road noise with it but it's very convenient.  I don't ride back there so my kids will have to put up with the extra noise.

When the OEM slider started leaking on my 2000 GMC K2500 (frame cracked in 2 places) the dealer had to replace it w/ the CR Lawrence manual unit. I had the truck for 2 more years & no problems w/ it. I had them install another 1 before I picked up my '04.

Last week I was behind 2 other GMT800s that had the CR Lawrence sliders installed, so there must be alot of them out there.

I'll check to see who is making the new sliders we'll be using in the '05s.
