Sunglasses Holder

Recommended Posts

I think the issue is the sunglasses with the "Big Curve". Our faces are curved, not flat... so sunglass manufacturers have gone to more of a curved look.

GM engineers still wear these.

This is the one thread that makes me laugh the hardest, I have regular sun glasses that fit in there no problem. When I put my regular glasses in there while I have my sun glasses on they fit too. Imagine that. The three other vehicles of different makes that I own the glasses holders are the same size. So I really don't think this is some conspiracy to piss people off. Normal eye glasses fit with no problem, I though big sun glasses went out in the seventies.

I think it is a fair complaint about the sunglass holder. It is just poor planning. Even my thin glasses are a bitch to put in or take out. My 2002 Hyundai has a bigger sunglass holder. It now becomes a useless space ....

This is it. Even my almost frame less costa dels will not fit. Fit find in the 10 yr old accord and the new accords??

Since the 900s did not have a sunglass holder, I guess the guy/gal that did this for GM had quit during the 900 design. And now the new guy/gal for sunglass holder has a learning curve issue?

My Oakley s fit beautifully. Actually I thought they were tossed into a bottomless abyss when I dropped my wire frames in.

My 2009 VW Jetta TDI barely fits them in IF and only IF I put them in the correct angle. The SAME sunglasses drop into the 2014 sun glass holder as if it are a 5 gallon bucket.

Guess it is time for you to change your eye wear. Or truck.

I did not realize that something so minuscule could ruin your day. I think your truck will still move EVEN if you have your sunglasses on a rope around your rear view mirror.

I have to call BS on your 5 gallon bucket analogy. Unless you have a really small face and require small glasses. Or you confused your center console with the sunglass holder......

I don't think it ruins anyone's day but it is annoyance that they have a sun glass holder and it is a subpar design to accommodate most standard glasses. Then again it is GM....

I use this pair and while they fit in, it is a bitch to take out and put back into.

I love the people who respond with how their Oakley's fit nicely and then proceed to ridicule our choice in sunglasses without ever seeing them.

Congratulations on your Oakley's though. You managed to fit the world's smallest sunglasses in a holder that we're complaining is too small for average sunglasses!

By the way I have some basic $40 sunglasses from Maui Jim's. Thin wire frame, and average sized lenses. I have to angle them a specific way to fit in the holder. While I'm not not speaking before congress on this issue and asking my Congressman to introduce a bill mandating larger sunglasses holders, I feel it's within the realm of reason to gripe about GM dropping the ball on this feature without having to catch a bunch of heat for it.

You bought a truck not a fashion statement. Put them in the glove box if they dont fit in the sun glass holder. Put them in the door pockets.

Yeah, the world is gadget-crazy. Just watch the Ford Focus commercials. People are actually buying vehicles because they like the Nav Screen! :shakehead: It doesn't seem to matter how good the car is. People want gadgets. It's kinda like the evolution of the Corvette. It started out being about power, speed & performance. Now it's all about TV screens, cupholders and embroidered floor-mats!

Actually your wrong. You bought the truck because of the statement it makes. It can because its a work truck or whatever the reason. Still a statement. The issue still stands they made something on the truck with little use. Considering how much thought and effort it goes to designing a truck since the name brand loyalty is far greater than a car. It amazes me that they over looked such small things. Sun glass holder and the radio.

Let me give you a factoid of the day 35-40% of the components that make up most vehicles on the road that you purchase do NOTHING for the vehicle's operation or performance. It is either for looks or to add to the price.

I can even give you an example. The Dodge I JUST traded in. I had to put a new battery in it. The battery had a battery hold down bracket. Great! It also had a plastic box that went over the battery and under the bracket. Useless! I guess since I could not reinstall the cheap plastic box back over the replacement battery, I should have complained to the aftermarket battery manufacterer that the battery they made to fit my truck looks ugly and I cannot hide it under the vanity battery cover.

My Dodge still started up JUST the same after the battery was installed and drove just the same ALL the way to the Chevrolet Stealership.

I am in the process of returning the truck that I signed delivery for.

I found out that all though it is nice and flashy, it has the wrong gearing ratio in the axle AND did not include the electric brake that I was told WAS there. I fell in love with the Tungsten Steel color but have to change it out for the Graphite Blue....

I don't care. Looks do not haul the trailer or stop it safely. I wouldnt have cared if it were rust bucket orange/brown. My sun glasses will sit happily wherever I drop them. The truck is big enough to store them ANYWHERE, well I guess except for the sunglass compartment. LOL

With that logic, the car manufacturers should just offer a car with no frills. Wheels an engine and a seat. Hey we can do with out the seat belt as well, it still runs.

You bought a new battery, you could have gotten on that fit correctly and issue would be a none issue. When you modify or change things or replace them. Then that can happen.

The issue is they designed it, they installed it and they sold it with this 'feature' and its a faulty feature at that. They could have gone with not offering it too. It is not that I installed an aftermarket and then it turned out not to work.

I would be fine with a milk crate for a seat.

You are right if they offer it, it should work. They didn't offer the sunglass holder as far as I know. It was just included.

I guess while we are whining about things, I should complain that my VW, my Dodge, my Escort AND my Audi all came with fake leather binders to keep my owners manual in. The SIlverado only came with a cheap generic Zip Lock baggie. I guess I should start a forum to complain about this "feature" being so cheap in a 45,000 truck.

I do not remember seeing the sunglass holder featured as a selling point in my window sticker. It was just something that was there. Nor did it list sunvisors or anything else that someone could critisize as an inadequate "feature" of the truck for sale.
