I have a 2007 Yukon XL Denali 6.2l. I only had it a few months and am not to happy with the AWD. I was on a frozen slightly snow covered lake and any other chev I have owned with a 4wd system could handle it but the awd really had a hard time.

I would like to convert it to 4wd(4hi-4lo) like the 2006 Suburban I had previous to the Yukon. Is this possible? I really hope so because I'm afraid boat launches and hunting trips may be a problem....any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

Bill

Never had problems with my all wheel drive in my esv, but to answer your question it would require a new front axle, transfer case, engine harness, dash harness and programing to make the truck think it is a fully loaded SLT to match your options. For this you would need a vin off another truck with similar options and 4wd. It would be cheaper to trade in and get what you want. The front axle in awd does not disengage like the 4wd unit and the awd does not shift hi lo.
