2014+ Truck Bed / Tonneau Covers

Are you sure the side rails are not sitting too high (which would cause the cover to be too high)?

Here's a picture from Bak's website. Look at the lower left hand corner. That seal is pretty darn horizontal while yours is not.

Mine is pretty much in the middle of his and this picture....the seal the cover is laying on is going to bump it up at least a little bit.

I will double check but I am pretty sure my rails are flush with the bed. Not sure what model truck is in the picture above but I have the plastic caps on the bed rail that lift the rails off the bed relative the front the bed. It is hard to tell from my picture but the flap seal wasn't installed uniform from the factory. The length the flap seal protrudes from the cover isn't uniform across the length of the cover. I called BAK Industries today and they are sending me a new seal kit to install. They answered the phone right away and didn't even question sending me the part. Definitely recommend their customer service!

Well I've had the PowerTraxOne MX on for a couple of weeks now. I followed the instructions as far as leaving it closed for 48 hours to let the seals form and so far I've had no detectable leaks. I've washed it off at the car wash as well as at home and driven thru some pretty good thunder storms. I bought the tail gate seal, but have not installed it yet. The one problem I've had: At first the cover would stop 3 or 4 times when opening or closing instead of one smooth movement. I called the company and they advised to remove the light, and un-coil and run the antenna for the remote outside the metal box. Problem solved! I'm pretty happy with it to this point.

It's time to look into a bed cover for mine. Does anyone here have the flip-up, painted hard covers and what are your experiences with them? Just curious if anyone knows which kinds (brands) are the most user-friendly to take off, put back on, etc. Thus far, I'm considering the Ranch Sportwrap, and a few others. Anyways, just looking for opinions, thanks.

I have installed my Revolver X2, but have a fitment question for you guys.

How does it fit over the tailgate? I though you are supposed to be able to close the gate with the cover closed, but my tailgate hits the cover (barely, but enough to stop it from closing), I have to pull up the center of the cover slightly, then I can close the tailgate. It is also difficult to close the cover with the gate up, I suspect for the same reason, there is just slightly too little space.

My issue is caused by probably only about 1/6 - 1/8 of an inch where the tailgate hits the cover. I can deal with it, not huge, but would be nice if I could open and close the tailgate without having to pull up the cover slightly before.

Mine is not 100% consistent across the back either.....so I put a shim on the rear right side rail and it raised inside of the rail so I got a little more clearance over the tailgate.

When you look at your rail from the back....does it slightly sag down ?....if so some shims will fix that.

If you call BAK and tell them what it's doing they will send you a pack of shims to handle it.

This is mine....like you say not a ton of difference.....1/8" or so....but you'd like it to be perfect.

This side on my rail was sagging...so I used a few shims and now it's pretty much level all the way across the back of the rail.

See how this one is slightly bent up on the bed side of the rail.....that holds the cover a little higher.

Thanks, I look at it when I get out of the office, and I will give BAK a call.

Good luck man, I'd just try to return it for a different cover BAK has one of the worst reputations around for customer service.

I had a terrific experience with them over the telephone....I couldn't get much service from email, but they helped me immediately over the phone and Fed Ex over-nighted my rails and the shims I needed.

I thought that was above and beyond honestly.

Hmmm, well, you guys all have some really nice bed cover types, and they all look great. But, I think I'm just going to get the Ranch Sportwrap painted hard top that just flips up and down. These Chicago winters can be brutal. My friends who have trucks - most of them just have the vinyl roll-up types, and after 5+ years of ice, salt, and snow getting on them, they mostly look faded and terrible.

The ones you guys have, involve those rails, racks, some have the little wheels to move the panels, etc. - there's no telling what years of road salt, cold, etc. will do to those. I think that due to the environment and climate I live in, during the winter, the hard top is probably the best option, long-term.

If you are going that route then consider an ARE. Very good quality and nice accessories on or available in the upper level models.

My LSX with remote lock ( through veh remote) and under mount lighting is excellent. Hinge on this is nice too. It lifts then rotates to keep tonneau away from the front of the bed.
