2014+ Truck Bed / Tonneau Covers

Recommended Posts

If you have the header seal in the right place you will only get a little water around the tailgate, every cover is going to leak there unless you get a tailgate seal.

I can't comment on the cold weather since I've only had mine a few months....but I have read it does get a little stiffer in the really cold weather.

I want to second this. Bak was kind enough to ship me another bulkhead to re-do my initial bulkhead installation, and now that I know what I'm doing I only have a few drops of water leaking around the tailgate edges after a big storm.

Looks easy to remove, i.e. steal.

As with most rack manufacturers, for a little more they will sell you a locking mechanism. In this case, the knobs you see above come in a locking configuration.

have had Roll-x installed for 15 months. no problems. located upstate Central NY... I try NOT to roll the cover when its below freezing, as who wants to do hauling stuff in those temps. It has been rolled when below freezing, just not very often. again no issues. I did run black RTV under the rubber edges from the front of the bed to where the covers when rolled back stops. This has stopped the very minor drips I use to get

when it poured out... overall 100% satisfied with the Roll X cover... I think it has the lowest profile on the market besides...

Anyone bought the new hard cover from BAK, BAKFlip MX4?

I'm looking at that one, and the Fold-A-Cover G4 Elite. Right now I'm leaning toward the G4 Elite. It seems more secure. The down side is I have to use a key to use it.

I am in a similar position. I like the look of the BAK Flip, but the video (link below) showing someone opening up a Bak Flip cover in about 10 seconds with a simple coat hanger is concerning.

Just curious if anyone has had someone break into their truck with a Bak Flip cover?

I have the Backflip F1 (Supposedly their top of the line). It has leaked from day 1. (Dec/13) Numerous complaints to the dealer as they sold and installed it.

Finally they have agreed to warranty it and replace it. They are offering me another F1 or the new Revolver X2 Hard Rolling Cover. Not sure on which one to take. The nice thing about the Rolling cover is there are no seams/hinges in the middle. I know there may always be some leaks, but I want the one with the least amount. Or do I look at another brand.

Any thoughts or comments appreciated!

Question: my wife and I have been cycling (on/off

Road) lately and instead of throwing the bikes in the bed and having them lean on eachother, what's a better route? Anyone have a bike rack that allows to mount over the tonneau cover or like a bike stand that fits in the bed? I have a crew cab with the 5ft+ bed so not exactly endless amount of room.

Just wanted to add my own experience to the subject.

2016 Silverado CC SB. Got the GM tri-fold bed cover, part number 23462061.

Just made a 350 mile trip with heavy downpours throughout and not one drop in the bed. It's got a soft tuneau covering outside and hard plastic underneath which makes it nearly impossible to get into. Of course I haven't tried it but it looks and feels thick enough to not worry about a knife or similar getting through it. I'm super happy with it. It even has a bowtie emblem on the rear right. Got it for $300 installed when we purchased the truck 2 weeks ago.

It's super easy to fold up and remove if needed. It also locks in the folded position if you need to move something unexpected.

I use the Thule T2 hitch mount when the bed is full. If the bed is empty, then I use the Thule insta gater. Install takes 10 seconds and it holds the bike very well. I've used it for 700 mile round trips with no issues. I also see people use the tailgate mate and then you throw the front bike tire over. I haven't gone this route as I don't want my front suspension messed up. My front shock on my downhill bike was $2k alone and I like to know the bikes are secured. I keep the cover folded up when bikes are in the bed.

Several places have the BakFlip MX4 on sale for $809.

Thanks for the heads up!

Looks like all BakFlip covers are on sale on Amazon. The Revolver is also at $828, which is $90 less than it was last week when I almost ordered the cover. Glad I held off!

I am guessing this is a Father's Day sale.

Show me the tailgate rack yoy have please.

The "in bed" version looks amazing however I have a smaller bed (crew cab) so I'd have to leave tailgate down and mount front wheel towards the cab as opposed to towards the tailgate.

Thanks!!!
