2014+ Truck Bed / Tonneau Covers

Recommended Posts

I had do think about that for a bit. My opinion is that the RollNLock A-Series is the best overall cover. It's expensive though.

I don't mind spending money when it pays or counts. I anticipate owning this truck for 10 years, as I do all my vehicles. Paying an extra 500 bucks or so over the long run is peanuts. And, if it results in satisfaction over that time period, then it's not a problem spending the dough.

What about the Pace Edwards Full Metal Jackrabbit? Looks nice. I like that the cover housing up front sits just about flush with the top of the bed.

I have been using a RetraxPro for about 6 months and it functions extremely well. While it is not the most flush cover I have seen, it is very easy to use and does not leak. I can't comment on the install as it was on the truck when I bought it.

Hahaha really? You had to think about it? you have been promoting the roll n lock for some time now. Hahaha

I'm not to crazy about retractables. I do know we have a Truck Covers USA retractable cover on the utility body at work. Thing seems secure and very strong. I have actually walked on top of it. They seem to be pretty spendy though. I feel most covers people have on their personal trucks don't see 1/3 the use this cover does since its on a crew work truck. After seeing how it performs day after day I would personally go with a cover from them if I wanted a retractable cover.

They all have their pros and cons.

TCUSA:

Pros: Double-walled aluminum, textured finish to hide scratches. Slats are connected via metal, not rubber. Small canister.

Cons: The cover requires four drain tubes. Two 1 1/8" holes have to be drilled into the rear stake pockets. Not a big deal, but the lock blocks are plastic, so if you ever have to reset them (screw a screw into them), you could have a problem. The metal slats are sealed underneath the cover by tape. So, you should be careful not to tear any of the tape or you will get water leakage. Does not have a sealed canister, it's partially open on the back side. You need to get the optional "keyless entry" which is just a small strap that when pulled, it releases the lock. If you don't get the keyless entry, you have to turn the key every 12 inches.

Neutral: Two locking points, spring loaded and locks every 12 inches.

RetraxPro:

Pros: Double-walled aluminum, textured finish (RetraxPro MX only) to hide scratches. Easier to operate (not spring loaded).

Cons: Canister is very large (the largest of all the retractable covers) and is plastic. Canister's lid with retracted cover is the largest loss of area.

Neutral: Two locking points, not spring loaded.

RollNLock A-Series:

Pros: Aluminum slats, textured finish to hide scratches. Theft resistant slats (no exposed rubber in seams). Four locking points. (Two locking points if you have a 2015 F-150 with the tailgate step and/or remote tailgate release.) Smallest area lost when cover is retracted. Small canister.

Cons: Requires four small screws to be drilled into tailgate for the additional two locking points hardware.

Neutral: Spring loaded, locks every 12 inches. To unlock every 12 inches, you have to turn the lock, but not the key.

All of the covers above are top-notch covers. But, if I personally had to pick one over the others, I would pick RollNLock although I would probably be happy with any of them!

Guys with the Fold-A-Cover G4 Elite, did you buy it from Fold-A-Cover direct?

I am not having much luck finding anybody selling it online. Locally it is either GM dealer or a local truck accessory dealer and They told they haven't sold one in years and are uncertain if they can still get them.

Also, anyone with this cover and an AMP Bedxtender have any fitment issues? Thinking about the bedxtender to help keep them ngs from going forward in the bed.

Thanks in advance for the assitance.

I ordered mine direct a week or two ago. I couldn't find anyplace else to get it excepting the stealerships.

I am in the market for a hard folding cover for my 2013 extended cab. I have read all 71 pages of this thread and must say it has made my decision even more difficult. There is no perfect cover. My original choice was the Bak Fiber max and I still may go for it. I like the flush mount, ease of installation and dent resistant. I have not seen many people say that they hate their bakflip purchase. If there are any bakflip fibermax owners out there that can give me a review of it (even better with pictures) , I would appreciate it. private messages would be great if you don't want to post in the thread. Thanks

Craig

Thanks for the info wulfgott, That is what I was finding also.

A couple of places that I called that were listed as dealers on Fold a Covers website all said the samething, they no longer sell that brand.

I actually ordered a Leer Trilogy the other day from a local dealer after seeing pictures of it installed on other 2014/2015 GM trucks.

I ordered the Pace Edwards Jackrabbit.

Why? Because I like it better than the Roll-N-Lock A Series as it is entirely flush with the top of the bed. I don't like the Roll-N-Lock's front housing standing above the top of the bed.

Also, I like the PE's lock and hardware better. Just sayin.'

If you want a Fibermax, then go buy the "Truck Gear by LINE-X Hard Folding Cover". It's a rebadged Fibermax and you get a lifetime warranty instead of the Fibermax's 2-year warranty.

Gentlemen,

Given the following factors: Price/Quality/Utility/Aesthetics, who makes the best roll-up tonneau cover?

I just installed the Truxedo Deuce. Full roll up cover with a front open option too. Install wasn't to bad and it looks good. They also have the Truxedo titanium buy it was an extra $400 and I didn't really feel like I needed it plus, I'm putting in the Truxedo tonneau mate and so I like the option of the access to the front without rolling the whole thing up. You do lose some security but I live/work in a good area so it's not a huge concern. Edited by Bandit33x

Did you look at the ReTraxx?
