2014+ Truck Bed / Tonneau Covers

Recommended Posts

I forgot to put the tonneau back on the '12 when I traded it in, so I tried it on the '14, and it fit better on it then the '12. It's an Extang try-fold…

Okay new twist in the pain in my tail that is the Undercover Flex. The MFR is going to send out a new brand new in the box cover for me because mine keeps falling apart. I'm trying to decide if I should sell it ('m thinking the most I'll get is $500.00) or should I keep it an give it another shot, maybe I just had a bad egg?.

If I ditch it I'm down to four possible replacements:

1 - Fold-A-Cover G4

2 - Advantage Hard Hat / GM Trifold

3 - Undercover SE

4 - Undercover Classic.

I can live with a few drops of water but, I've been getting 6" x 1/4" deep puddles after a 15 minute rain storm.

Not sure if you're aware of the new Undercover Elite? It's on Undercover's website.

  • 2 weeks later...

Having read through this full thread, and never having owned a tonneau cover before, I have to conclude that this whole tonneau business is run like a cottage industry - products of questionable quality, resellers who are mostly mom and pop shops. Lucky to get something that does not leak etc. Quite disappointing really.

I just ordered the TonnoPro Hard cover and the Bedrug... keeping my fingers crossed I get my order and its not defective.

Got both the TonnoPro and BedRug.

The Bedrug is awesome, very happy with the fit and finish. Installation instructions could be better.

The Tonnopro:

- Arrived with a concealed dent in the aluminium; likely shipping damage. The aluminium is covered by vinyl. The vinyl is not torn, but I'm afraid it will fray eventually at the dent.

- Also, the last section by the tailgate does not close tight, as the clamps are too far away from the tailgate and you can pry it up pretty easily.

- The extras they ship in the package (tailgate seal, cleaner, gloves), seem to be cheap - of the bargain bin variety.

I emailed Tonnopro about both the damage and the tailgate closing issue.

In their first response, they completely ignored the issue with shipping damage, and just responded with a canned message to modify the cover by moving the clamps further back. I suppose they know about the design defect with the tailgate - hence the canned message.

When I asked again via email about the shipping damage, I let them know I am willing to keep the cover, if they will send me a note in writing that failure down the road in the vinyl will be fully covered by warranty. Instead of addressing the issue, they simply asked me to contact the selling dealer for an RMA.

Altogether, I'm not happy with the cover, or their customer service. I've contacted the dealer - TonneauCovers4Less. We shall see.

I hate to say look elsewhere for a better product, because having read this thread, this issue with poor quality and customer service seems to be reported with several manufacturers.

**** UPDATE ****

TonneauCovers4Less responded the next business day, contacted the manufacturer and got me a note that I can attach to my warranty records documenting the transit damage. They kept me up to date on their contact with the manufacturer and got it resolved. I'm keeping the cover and in a good place, all said. I will update once I adjust the cover to see if I can fix the tailgate issue.

Just ordered a Lund Genesis tri-fold tonneau. My dad just put on the same cover only the Extang(sp?) version. I bought it off Amazon since I'm a Prime member and it was fairly inexpensive. I just wanted something to cover the bed and no real other reason why I went with it. Should be coming in Friday so I'll photograph once installed.
