2014+ Truck Bed / Tonneau Covers

Recommended Posts

Have had both the Bakflip G2 and now the Undercover Flex. I can say with 100% certainty, the Undercover blows the Bakflip out of the water. Much better quality.

I had a Bakflip on a Dodge Ram several years ago. It was nice, but seemed heavy and it was expensive at the time. The Undercover looks nice and seems like less scratch. Seems to be a little nicer in fact. Anyone ever compare?

How is the weather resistance of it? I had one for a while but, got rid of it because it leaked quite a bit, couldn't keep anything in the bed overnight if it was going to rain or it would be soaked.

Mine is pretty tight. The issue with any of the folding tonneau covers for our trucks is you will always have a leak at the front corners by the bulkhead because if you look, the bulkhead is slightly lower than the bedsides and tailgate. As for the Undercover Flex, i have found that you have to be pretty precise installing the rails. If you mount the rails flush with the top of the bedside, the cover will sit higher than the bedside, thus leak. The rails need to be about 1/8 in lower on the bedside and the back of the tonneau rail aligned with the back of the bedside, if you mount the rail to butt up against the front, you will get a leak at the tailgate.

Yeah I found the same with mine when I had it. I switched over to a TonnoPro because it sits on top and overlaps the bulk head so no leaks, not even in the touch less car wash. The downside is the cover doesn't look as slick and I can't fold it that third time, I can take it off in about 90 seconds by myself at least.

Beware I tried to go the cheap way this time... u get what you pay for https://www.realtruck.com/american-ez-roll-tonneau-cover/

Just had the Rhino liner done today. Try to install the cover missing two bolts to nuts and rubber on one of the Rails. Hopefully the return process goes smooth... mad at my self for going cheap lesson learned

Bought my Lomax directly from Agricover. Ordered mine on Sept 1st which was the day the Lomax became available for order. As a brand new product, I did expected to have some kinks to sort out.

The Lomax arrived damaged. The aluminum panel was bent near the corner. Bad part was, I didn't realize it till I installed the rails and was ready to put the cover on.

Called Agricover the next day. Their customer service was excellent though. I spoke with Curt and explained. He sent me a new Lomax, and sent Fedex to pick up the one I have.

I received the second Lomax. This time I inspected before I attempted install. I saw they made modifications to the packaging. However, it arrived damaged again. I called Agricover once again. I took pics of the damage so they can get a better idea of how the damage occurred.

They sent me a 3rd Lomax. This time it arrived intact. They made considerable modifications on the packaging.

What I did notice was the rails are somewhat curved and made installation a bit tricky. One I got the clamps positioned properly, I was able to install ok.

First impressions: Damn good looking cover. Very contemporary and low profile. The overall cover appears flimsy initially. I have been using it a few weeks and I guess it's sturdy enough. It did leak a bit on the sides when I go through the car wash. I readjusted the rails and lowered them a bit. Also, make sure the cover is "center" as there seems to be some play from left to right. After the adjustments, I took through car wash again. Still have a few drops of leak but much better.

The cover removes very easily. I had to move a couch recently and was pleased I can remove the cover in a minute without tools.

I also like the fact that there is no key. Your tailgate lock is the only lock to concern with. There are concerns whether this cover is like the Backflip and can be unlocked using a coat hanger. I haven't tried it yet, but it looks like a similar design. It also seem like a crowbar would rip it open anyway.

Overall, it's a decent cover. I gave feedback to Agricover; they should widen the panel half to 1 inch on each side. That should solve the leaking issue. There is still a lot of improvements to make. I'm sure they would implement those improvements in updated versions.

Anything new you've discovered with the Lomax? Are you still overall satisfied with it?

I really wish there was a flip option that was 100% watertight.

Yes that would be wonderful, my previous bak-flip when I purchased it was called the HD and it only leaks a tad at the tailgate with nothing coming in the front installed on a 06 F-150.

The new F1 which I just installed last week I am suspecting it will leak a tad at the corners in the front and also around the tailgate on my GMC, however I think I could prevent quite a bit of leakage on the front of the bed corners if I put some black sealant in between the rubber flaps where they meet.

Also I want to note that on all of my bak-flips and others I help installed that were not mine. I ordered and had the others order and installed a extra set of track clamps which was more evenly spaced and had four clamps on each side instead of three thus holding the bak-flip tracks closer and tigher to the top of the bed rails.
