2014+ Intakes (CAI) & Air Filters

Recommended Posts

also one question, has anyone had any warranty issues after installing a full CAI?

unless the person you're dealing with at the dealership doesn't have a brain stem.. you should be fine.

Some dealerships like to be ridiculous though... if you're dealer is like that, find another dealer.

so i installed the aFe Intake System - Momentum GT (51-74104) last week. it is quite loud when you get on the throttle. very tam and quiet when doing a gradual speed increase. cant hear it at all during cruising unless going up a hill or bridge.

the sound is actually pretty great when WOT but I'm sure the wife will not like it. she rode with me a lot this weekend and i baby'd the throttle so she wouldn't hear. i guess its a good thing because MPG increased.

my magnaflow 12909 arrives tomorrow but now I'm wondering if i will even hear the exhaust because of the CAI.

does anyone have experience with my CAI and the Airaid MIT? where is the sound coming from, the box or the pipe?

i have the MIT and it’s a little louder than stock but I also have a dynomax bullet that cancels out the MIT because it’s so loud

Sounds is coming from the system in general.

The MIT doesn't pull quite as much air as some of these systems and the stock airbox is made to be very quiet.

I will say though, once you install the exhaust, look into getting a custom tune. Makes both changes work together and you hardly notice the intake making noise at odd times.

You'll also net a lot more of a gain with the intake you have, once you get a tune.

doesnt the tune void the warranty though? yeah i am not making a decision on this thing until i get the exhaust installed and see how they are in combination with each other.

the tune could pretty easily void the powertrain warranty.

I would like to know more about the GM performance CAI for the 2017 models. It does have a different part number listed than the previous year trucks. Has anyone tested or seen the new 2017 model.

Yes its a different part number but supposedly its the same intake
