2014+ Intakes (CAI) & Air Filters

Recommended Posts

Can you post a picture of your weather stripping job?

I might be able to get a picture of it with the stock box...sorry but I'm not energetic enough today to remove/install it/ and then remove it again, lol.

I might be able to get a pic of the stock box installed with the stripping tonight sometime. Basically the AFE mirrors the stock snorkel to the fender---- so the weatherstripping worked when I modified the stock airbox, too.

I spoke with S&B today and they will be releasing their CAI for the 5.3L and 6.2L engines at the end of June or beginning of July... I almost ordered the K&N kit but I think I will wait for S&Bs enclosed kit or for Airaid to release their MIT (whenever that may be).

Anyone know of any 6.2 certified intakes that are CARB rated and can be shipped to California? Since I live in the state with the best laws in the country it's hard to find an intake for my truck.

Most of the ones from big names are accepted

I was checking out the intakes on AutoAnything (AFE, Injen, K&N Etc.) and none are CARB rated. The only one that looks like it might be is a Volant intake but I want to make sure it is before I get bitten in the butt in the long run by the smog laws here.

You wont have to smog until the truck is 6 years old. By that time K&N, Airaid, and Volant will have an Executive Order number

I didn't think about that hah, I've just had bad luck with intakes and getting smog passed in the past so I just wanted to be extra sure this time around.

I have a Volant CAI for sale #155546 w/ the Donaldson's PowerCore filter for the 6.2L. It has 900 miles on it, I would like to get $225 for it, or make me a reasonable offer. PM me if your interested.

Modified a Airaid MIT for the previous gen truck had a machine shop tap and thread in a 5/8 nipple. Total cost including parts $140, it fits perfect and it's quiet. If you want more of a performance sound you would like the Volant.
