Radio Reception Issues

Recommended Posts

Sorry, I should have been more clear in my previous post. I was wondering if TJay had sent an email back the engineers he has been working with to see when the mechanical update would be available, after it was noticed that the update was software only. I really hope he's able to help out those of us with a 2013 build date. Anyone with a 2014 build date had the software update done? Results?

I have yet to hear anyone say that the software update fixed the reception issues, I think it will take more then a software update to correct this. As stated, the module is probably required however, GM is hoping they can save money by not including it in the PI. Once they update the software it's operating "normal and within the normal characteristics of the vehicle as designed". I doubt the engineers just accidentally forgot to include the module in the PI.

I believe the only people to report on the update working or not working have been people with a build date prior to 12/13, the cutoff date that TJay mentioned would be for a new module or not. I really hope GM does the right thing. Otherwise, how do I talk a dealer into installing a new module?

I have a newer installed radio. I have not had the update as of yet. I emailed dealer, just waiting for a response. I should not need the module replacement

Let us know how it turns out. I'm sure everyone with an early build date, and those with a 2014 build date, will be anxious to find out if the software update works on the newer modules!

+1

If the software update does work on the newer builds, then that means it's a waste of time for pre '14 owners to even try it.

The module has to be replaced.....................period!

I was told my radio unit was replaced, I have not seen my work order yet as it is still outstanding to confirm this, but after a 300 mile trip I did not notice any improvement in reception.

My build date is jan 2014

No fix coming in my opinion!

Did they also do the software update?

I was told they replaced the radio unit, no metion about a software update. My work order is incomplete awaiting rear end replacement, will update folks later when I learn more.

If the radio was replaced post PI 1288, then it should have the latest software. Dealer has to program it after install. Very rarely does programming give you a choice as to which version to install. Maybe not ever.

Not much I can do peeps.

After having mine system updated it has been working fine, still have a random kick out of HD and or stereo but when compared to my wifes 2011 Lincoln which does it as well about as often I have attributed it to interference in the areas that we drive in.

I would just stay after your dealer and or GM customer care so they can continue to document the issue and or continue to push it. Only other suggestion I would/could make is to request it be forwarded to the infotainment engineer for assistance.

I will email the engineer today and point him to the thread again and see if there is anything he can do, but from the sounds of some of these posts the dealers are still fighting the owners and that is out of the hands of GM and the engineers if that is the case.

I appreciate you responding, Todd! If you could double check for us that the 'PI' that everyone keeps mentioning is the actual update, that would be great! Any information you can find out from the engineer about the update and module replacement, would be really appreciated!
