Radio Reception Issues

Recommended Posts

Cant really turn HD off, well you can but after next key cycle it will revert back on.

Can you all test your Am reception and tell me how many stations you can tune in on AM, also what is your build date?

no problem, I started a new thread. Put your results and the request truck info in there for me please. Makes it easier for me to keep up on it.

Well I found that my f.m. reception was rather limited also. I decided on my last vehicle purchase that I would not drive enough to pay for the xm radio add-on. So I bought a mp3 player that would work in the vehicle. Now I traded both my vehicles in on a new 2014 GMC Sierra SLT and found my mp3 player won't work in the new truck. My old mp3 player is a sony without bluetooth so I tried to plug it into the usb ports and the radio in the truck can't find it. The dealer and salesman tried to get it to work and tried it in three other trucks on the lot and it just wont work. Funny how it worked in my Toyota Vensa, sons Ford Expedition and three other vehicles but won't work in my new truck. I guess now I have to go and buy a new Ipod to hear my music.

I don't drive much, but the truck should be able to find a media device that has been found by two to three year old vehicles have found. Dealer had no opinion or clue of what causes this problem.

I do like the XM radio but the cost is too high for someone that drives as little as I do. I guess I will just order a new Ipod and try and transfer the music from my MP3 to it. Unless someone has a better solution.

After several weeks of dealing with GM and multiple visits to the dealer, even a GM factory tech attempting a fix, GM states there is no fix, no buyback, no different vehicle, no radio swap out. GM said the FM radio reception is normal for a 2014 Silverado. My truck was an early build, my radio reception is worse than others. Had other 2014 Silverado,s for loaner vehicle.

Huge disappointment. GM customer service is the worst I ever dealt with.

I went through dealer, GM field service tech,GM engineering, GM customer service and GM buisness resource center.

GM BRC called me 2 days ago and stated that there will be NO buyback of vehicle, NO different truck offered, NO radio replacement, and NO fix for the radio.

I am a long term GM customer and this will be my Last GM vehicle I ever purchase. All I want is for my FM radio reception to be improved to the point I can listen to, just like every other car/truck.

Steig have you tried an after market antenna? I put one on my truck and it improved reception, not great but at least now I can listen to the radio. I posted the antenna I used in this thread. Sorry that GM is not willing to work with you.

No I havent, but a GM factory rep attempted to put in an antenna booster, but it did not work.

Try a good custom auto sound shop in your area. Should/may be able to improve reception.

Having the same issues as everyone else. HD cuts in and out within a few feet. Had a Chevy Cruze rental last week and didn't have a problem with HD, could this be a truck issue?

A mechanic at my dealership says it is an interference issue with the routing of the cable. My new truck does better than the last but not as great as the others I have owned

Well I just purchased my Sierra last week and my radio does the exact same thing as being described ... I emailed:

To: "[email protected]" [email protected]

Subject: ATTN: Jonathan or Jennifer 2014 radio issues

and they responded with :)

Hello Todd,

Congratulations on your new Sierra! Thank you for reaching out regarding your radio. I do apologize you are experincing poor reception and I have created a case where I have documented your concern and our interactions. The case number for your reference is, **-***********.
Unfortunately, at this time we do not have a fix for this matter, but our system is accessed by many different departments. Please do not hesitate to reach out if there is anything in the future we can assist you with regarding your Sierra.

Sincerely,

Jonathan A.

  • 2 weeks later...

ok here is my update...

I took the truck in on Wednesday of this week, GM shipped the radio tuner to the dealer ahead of time. Dealer replaced the radio module and while there reflashed the HMI module as I was having the locking up issues per the TSB.

So far everything is working correctly, but this was only the first morning I have driven the truck. Hopefully I will know for sure after this weekend if the new radio module fixed everything.

Here is the Blank Screen after Start Up and In Reverse "Calibration" I had done to mine to solve the screen not returning to the Home screen after ending a call and cannot call contact work/mobile number for more than one contact with the same name. It solves several issues.
