A little help picking a lift kit

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I was wanting a little help here if you don't mind. I have a new 2014 Silverado Z71 and I want to add a lift kit to it (preferably between 3" to 4") and add some new rims and tires.

I have purchased (and not yet installed) XD Spy 18" rims with -12 offset and also these Toyo Open Country AT/II wheels for use after the vehicle is lifted.

I would like to know which lift kit I should get as there are so many different vendors. Here is specifically what Im hoping for:

  1. 3 to 4" lift
  2. No cutting on my new truck
  3. Reuse my stock rancho shocks on the front and back
  4. Allow my rims and tires the clearance they need for no rubbing
  5. Less than $700 for the kit
  6. Something I can install myself with basic tools (no strut compressors, etc)

I have done two days worth of research and just end up with more questions on top of more questions. Any help you can provide (with pics preferably) would be great!

Thanks

There aren't a whole lot of 2014 lift options yet. BDS has one: http://bds-suspension.com/product?ma=5&mo=1&ty=1&yr=2014

As far as price, you have to pay to play. Good kits aren't cheap, but the prices for the 2014's should go down once they get more kits to market. The factory Rancho shocks aren't anything special, there is no 4" kit that will keep the factory shocks. I'm not sure about cutting on the new kits, installing them usually isn't bad from what I hear especially if you have a shop.

well lift in the back is simple.. with a block....

front on mine.. is a fabtech 6" and believe they reused the front shocks..

downside with fabtech is my steering radius is horrible.. but my drive line angles are good.. where as bds has a better turning angle but drive lines on steeper angles... thus possible to wear out things more

Thanks for the feedback. I have decided to go with the 2.5" kit from Rough Country. The install seems pretty painless and I can't justify the huge price increase for an added 1" of lift. After all, with only $150 investment I can scrap that down the road for a larger lift if need be once I know more.

Also, do you guys think the -11 offset will look good on the Silverado?

I should have all the info you need in my post along with pictures on a -12 offset:

Let me know if you have any other questions
