The Interior "Snap, Crackle, Pop" Thread

Has anyone come up with a solution for the squeaking coming from the plastic window trim and the weatherstripping.  If i push against my drivers side window when its closed it goes away, or open the window slightly.  From what i can see its that plastic trim vibrating/rubbing.

What did everyone do to fully fix it?

Thanks,

I wedged some velcro between the plastic trim and weather stripping right where it was making the most noise to keep pressure on it and that got rid of 95% of the noise for me.  Wouldn't have to be velcro that's just what I had in the center console from one of my charging cables haha.

Anyone find a way to stop the buzzing coming from the center headliner where the sunglass holder is?  When I'm going up hill or accelerating and it hits a certain vibration that makes all kinds of noise like a swarm of angry bees haha.  If I press on it it will stop, but I haven't figured out how to keep it from happening and worry about trying to take that all apart thinking I might break plastic clips and make it worse.

Don't have to worry about that one on the 19's, they did away with it. Probably got tired of listening to people complain about it:)

What drives me crazy about that sound is that it sounds like a stone hit my windshield which made me paranoid about it. And then it really happened, after one week of owning the truck a stone chipped my windshield :(

My windshield chipped my first week of ownership as well :(

My driver side seat makes a ratcheting sound when I take turns or sit up straighter. It really sounds like turning a ratchet. It almost bothers me enough to where I’ll take the whole seat out soon to check everything out. I’m really curious if I could make the camaro buckets fit in the truck without new seat brackets

Guys, just thought I would add to this thread. Picked up my 18 SLT April last year and all was fine until the temperature dropped to below freezing and then over every and any bump or rut the center console would vibrate and rattle.

This would persist until the interior became warm enough inside the cab and then would go away, so far as spring arrived the noise persisted (albeit to a lesser extent) even at 10c so I finally got it into the dealer.

Anyways to cut a long story short I got my truck back after x2 days and currently all seems to be good, I have been driving over every type of bump, hole or road imperfection that was causing it b4 but so far all is quiet!

Just had my 18 Silverado in to the dealership for 3 days while they took apart the entire center stack and dash and found that my noises were a mix of the hood release cable and some lose screws or bolts.  I had to stick around a half hour while picking it up since they didnt actually get all the trim back together correctly when putting it back together so that was a but of a concern, but it is way less squeak and rattle on my way home so far.

I also had the B pillar tick others have reported but it's too cold for that to happen right now so they just sprayed some expanding from in there based on research I did so hopefully that wont come back next spring when it warms up again.

I also get a squeak when its wet and I open my door which I have sprayed with wd40 and they also sprayed with whatever they use and it's still happening, so not sure if it's worth trying to even take back over that since its obviously just something with a door hinge when its wet.

Any update on your b pillar ticking?  Did the foam help?  Do you get a crackling, popping noise when you open the rear doors in the heat?

The foam did help with the noise in the pillar, I dont seem to have noise with the rear doors.  I did have a noise where some of the weather stripping meets the plastic on the driver front window that I wedged some velcro into to stop the contact.  Also had a bunch of noise from behind the dash service fixed saying it was the cable for the hood release.  And also put felt between where the center stack meets the center console.   Oh and if the passenger seat belt is facing the pillar instead of the seat that also makes noise Haha.

So all I have now is a high pitched hum in the area by the sun glass holder when the engine is working hard up hills or passing and the cup holder if I put anything in it, which I normally don't.

I guess I misjudged the title of this thread. Why? Because I have a true Rice Crispies crackling...like light rain hitting the windshield. It sounds like it's coming from the center of the dash. Reverberating all over the windshield back to both seats.

2015 Denali with 6.2.

At speed, over 60mph, it sounds like someone is eating the cereal or it's raining. Little snaps, pops, etc..

It is not related to heat or cold. Not related to bumps. Can be smooth as silk and both the Admiral and I hear it plain as day. We both have spent time pressing on everything. No dice. Seriously, everything. All the dash trim, the radio trim, the seat trim, the A pillar area, the center console area, the overhead console area....nothing changes the sound...nothing.

I even went outside and checked everything you guys have mentioned. Nothing's loose. The only wear item I found was the trim/windshield washer plastic piece that goes full length across the bottom of the windshield. I put some matchbooks under the piece and went for a ride. Nope. No change.

At this point I'm now wondering if I have a microphone going bad (3 in the cab that I've found) (A Mazda/Toyota repair guy mentioned that possibility) or if the amp for the noise reduction system built in to the Denali with the 6.2 is going bad. The noise is getting worse. The noise reduction system is suppose to lessen the sounds in the cab. There's nothing left mechanical for me to press on that I've found.

BTW, I did get all the recalls done, the moving/crunching seat noises going around a corner repaired, etc., ...and so far at 70K miles, she's still running great!

I emailed my dealer in Tucson about this issue, haven't heard back (3 days now) which is unusual. I'll call them on Monday.

So FYI....if you have a Denali with a 6.2...keep your hearing aids tuned for snap, crackle and pop that sounds like light rain on the windshield.

For the b pillar fix do you know where about on the length of the b pillar did they spray the foam?

No, they didn't really tell me exactly where they did it and I've never felt like pulling it apart to see haha.  Sorry I can't be more help on the specific locations, but it did in fact help so I'd recommend trying to get them to do it if you are still under warranty.

No worries. There’s a bunch of us over on the b pillar tick forum that have it in varying degrees of intensity and occurrence. Mine only happens on pretty big bumps and at certain temperatures or dew points. Usually in mornings or early evenings.

My big upset is a passenger seat that rattles and at times makes a clicking noise that’s enough to drive me insane when it does it. Can’t figure it out and of course the dealer couldn’t make the noise happen. I can push on the seat towards the door and make it stop though. But as soon as I stop pushing and lift my hand it starts ticking and rattling again
