3500hd allison trans leak what failed to cause this leak

2004 3500hd 4x4 120,000 miles

here is a photo looking UP at the bottom of the transmission. I cleaned off the bottom, place the truck on jack stands and ran it in gear for 30 seconds. the oil is leaking from the hole at the Bell housing and the silver thingie 6" to the right.

The truck shifts fine, but I am sure its just about out of oil. the under caraige of the truck has a nice coating of trans oil...

What has failed in the transmission to cause this leak?

Correct. Either the pump seal or the converter blew.

I'd find a qualified independent trans shop, imo

the torque converter seal and 10 pump bolt washers IS the fix !!! ive done a few........

 

they need to have done this before ,,,do 5 pump bolt washers at a atime ,,,bolt torque has to be looked up by the tech ,i cant remember what it is ,
