power locking tailgate

Recommended Posts

And then when the power actuator fails everyone will erupt and whine "its a 50k truck electronics shouldn't fail that are exposed to crap!"

I'll take the manual lock thanks.

so you don't have electric locks on your truck? or you do and you don't use them? if the electric locks go out you can still use your key to get in the vehicle just like if the electric lock goes out in your tailgate you could still use the key to open it.

I don't understand why some of yall are making such a big stink about someone asking about electric locking/unlocking tailgate... geez

Actually sounds like one of the more practical features they could install. Wouldn't mind having it - I'd use it.

Ordered my tailgate lock today. My 6.2 Iridium Metallic Sierra SLT Z71 arrived at dealer yesterday. I was really blown away by the color and overall look of the truck. I will be picking up on Sat after they get the Linex spray in liner done. I ordered the factory hard tonneau cover And think the locking tailgate makes a ton of sense, and should have been a factory install. I took wife and 2 kids out for a 25mile "test ride" yesterday to make sure there were no issues, ie vibration on highway, and the truck drove beautifully. I really like the ride with Z71, I didn't hammer the engine but it has a lot of grunt off the line, and easily can spin rear tires from standing start. I decided after seeing the factory chrome 20" wheels that I really like them with the Iridium Metallic paint, as I was contemplating factory 22's. I didn't realize the 22's tires are lower height sidewalls, so the circumference of tire in the wheel well is same as 20's, and I prefer the look of the taller sidewalls. I have 3.42 rear...will post pics and another write up after I take delivery this weekend. Planning on Rosen headrest DVD's, LED back-up lights mounted under rear bumper, and Escort 9500 remote mounted radar detector and front laser diffuser, which I have had on 2 previous vehicles and works really well.

...I think you (talking in general here) have to actually experience some of these features before you can come to an informed opinion on their usefulness/value...

I don't think that the features are useless.

Most people just get to easily carried away and take it as granted that the system will never fail on them.

I'm sure every one of us has experienced a situation when one trusted a system and then it failed.

And the worst (what bothers me the most) is that it doesn't have to be my system what screws up to bring me in danger.

so long

100% agree with you i would def use it as well. my tailgate stays unlocked most of the time because there is nothing worse than having something in your hands that you are about to put in the back of your truck and then you or someone else goes to open your tailgate and IT'S LOCKED! so now you gotta put the stuff down and unlock it with the key... lol

A power locking tail gate makes sense. My buddy has one on his ford. Its nice to say "hey the tail gates locked". And click he opens it from the drivers seat. Also you know its locked when you lock the truck.

Anyone saying that they can just check it anyways, do you manually check all your doors everytime?

Its a good option, and people steal tailgates, which are expensive.

Y'all bought 50,000$+ trucks and don't have locking tailgate?

ROFL

LMAO
