2014+ Exhaust Systems & Mufflers

Recommended Posts

Has anyone just removed the factory muffler, but left the flapper in place? I see people saying if you leave the flapper in it will sound stock, but I have a hard time believing that a loose fitting metal flap can do the job of a factory muffler just as well. I'm pretty close to just doing a muffler delete and leaving everything else stock. Makes the most sense to me if it gives me a nice growl when on the throttle, but keeps the V4 chopper to a minimum.

I just picked mine up today from the muffler shop. They did a true dual exhaust, with 2 single chamber flow master and 18" tips, I like it, sounds good 395ccd3e88a16556a817a0ba510a70cc.jpg60d1ac7300b7e8aa5400bc953c6787d9.jpg8660569e00190dd6d768da921b20bd02.jpg296ee87b056b2fec6297745b25c7c2c2.jpg189107b2ea5203211c08565013ed9fe7.jpg

Checked out some new trucks while at Dealership today. The White High Altitudes have Flowmaster with Double Wall tips. The dark Trucks are from an unknown company had Glass packs about the size of a Liter soda bottle, Y pipe split into skinny pipes with crinkled bends with tips that looked like soup cans. The Aluma coat was flaking off and rusting ,can't believe someone would install that junk on a new truck

None of these catbacks throw codes do they? I heard someone say that after they installed their catback, they didn't go into V4 as much...? I don't wanna mess with the way the truck is designed to run.

All that matters to the engine is cat forward.... unbolt the exhaust and beyond sounding like a demolition derby junker it will run the same. The only reason someone's 4 cylinder is less active is they are on the throttle listening to the truck lol.

Any particular reason you went under the hitch instead of beside it?

Fat fingered, and shot from the hip.

i just dropped it off and they did that, I do want to take it back and have them move it to under the bumper

Removing just the muffler and leaving the flapper sounds good, you will like it

That's what I did but pulled the flapper later cause it started sticking and rattling. GM wouldn't warranty it cause I already chopped the muffler.

I removed the resonator too but the truck was too loud. (6.2) I enjoyed it around town but on the highway or with passengers it was too much. Manual downshift it sounded like a beast. I currently have no flapper and muffler and put back the resonator. Sounds good, would keep the flapper if it was working properly
