2014+ Exhaust Systems & Mufflers

Recommended Posts

There are two Corsa setups for the 2014+ silverado/sierra both are sport. One is redesigned to be quieter than the other. I have no idea as to how to tell. Fondupot has a video of the redesigned. Personally i want whichever has the most growl.

Here is Corsa sport with just a CAI, you can hear a little more growl to it, not near header like but it's there.

And some more ridiculous header sound. This video reminds me of the Henessey Raptor video by drive where he switches to Dumps lol.

So if headers don't necessarily make it scream dan? Any videos of your setup?

Thinking outloud here since I really don't have any first hand experience with this...Could a guy just run Long tubes and catted Y pipe with the remaining exhaust stock? Am I killing any performance gain?

Yes, that'll work fine. It'll cost you maybe a few HP but the big gains are from the headers, the catback on the 6.2 is pretty big. And it'll be very quiet.

If i can have headers and not be too loud i might plan to do so...the only issue that would arise is i will definitely tune for them. Might not be a good idea, there is no hiding headers, though i could switch ECM modules out or flip back to the regular software.

Might start looking into it. Kooks are expensive, ARH, are 100-200$ more than a CAI.

What gains do you think you can get with Tune + Headers + CAI + Exhaust? I know what i would like to see. Just don't know if that's realistic. I'd like to see about 30bhp increase. That would damn near put the 5.3L at 400hp at the crank, probably 300hp at the wheel. Talk about power hehe, then would just need to re-gear to 3.73.

My problem is i was never into trucks until i got this one. Had i been at the time i would've gotten it setup a little different.

Here we go

572RWHP & 477ft-lb of torque, out of the 5.3L :D

Livernois Motorsports Whipple 2.9 Supercharger
Livernois Motorsports Stage 2 CNC Ported Cylinder Heads
Livernois Motorsports Stage 1V Camshaft
Livernois Motorsports Total Control VCT Control System
Livernois Motorsports EvenFlo thermostat
Livernois Motorsports Windstorm CAI
Long Tube Headers
Livernois Motorsports MyCalibrator tuning device
Livernois Motorsports custom dyno tune
Man i need to hurry up and get into dental school.. but seriously that is ridiculous. Idk what you would do with that? I would add a baja long travel suspension kit, fender flares, and head to Baja i guess ha.

The end result of the headers is very dependent on the cat back being used and if you got the headers with/without cats. So on my crew cab, it's very liveable which is why I put on the cutout. I apologize but the only videos I have are with the cutout open. I'll see if I can get some new quiet ones this weekend.

But it's definitely the complete opposite of my regular cab which is running the Corsa Sport with American Racing Long Tubes:

Shock the hell out of poor unsuspecting sports/muscle cars. It's quite fun to do with a truck :-D

"Livernois motorsports has brought our unparalleled experience with direct injection performance experience, to the new 2014+ Silverado/Sierra. Both with the 5.3L Ecotec3 and the 6.2L Ecotec3. We began working on improving the throttle response, and overall driving dynamics of these trucks to be much more responsive, improve the shift feel, and performance level of these great engines. The end results with 93 Octane tuning was an additional 27HP and 47TQ gain on the stock 6.2 and a 29HP and 34TQ gain on the stock 5.3. Combine these gains with our proven transmission programming enhancements and you will notice a complete transformation of the responsiveness and performance of your truck. Add our available CAI for added games of over 10 additional HP and 20TQ on both engines for even more performance."
This is rather interesting. I didn't think a tune was capable of such. I'll see if i can find dyno results. If that tune lives up to it's description, coupled with Exhaust and CAI i would have the amount of power i want. Wish i had 3.73 gear ratio :(

Question...I want the performance advantage headers can provide but want the quietest setup for daily driving and towing on the weekends. Do you have the Corsa Touring? Any chance you have some sound clips?

Like I said I want it pretty mellow until about 2500 RPMs since that is where it sits when I tow my trailer but after that loud is good.

Yes. New Era Performance did a supercharger build on a 2013 Silverado and did exactly that.

I apologize if this has been answered but I have not been able to find the answer anywhere. I am looking at putting on a new muffler on my 2014 GMC Sierra with the 5.3L engine. I have never done any exhaust modifications before and I do not know what exactly to look for. I know there are different inlet and outlet pipe sizes and different offsets for the muffler. Do I need to get a muffler that matches the stock pipe sizes and the same offset setup as stock?

Ok so this is my first truck, and it def needs to louder!!! I want people to hear me coming!

My question is what is best to accomplish this? My friend said there is no need to do a full system, said something about putting on 2 flow masters and pipes either out the back or off the sides. Also said something about 1 pipe out of the cat to 2 pipes?

Sorry for my ignorance in this subject!

Thanks

Lake pipes.

Your welcome.

Have they commented on enabling flex fuel in the 6.2L?

Did you have them do any deletes? like the resonator or anything? Im assuming you would want to change mufflers but also delete the huge resonator/cat that is closest to the tail pipe end.

I kept the resonator and I might add the flapper back. I wasn't really going for loud, I wanted a deep/throaty sound and got exactly that. I have a 2 yr old and a wife lol my other car is the loud one.

I see. I really want to setup my truck like the video i posted above, but Kooks headers and Y-pipe is around 1700$ alone. Not counting the corsa catback at roughly 1000$. I mean i could hold off on a bumper and some cosmetics and be fine but it is a lot of money. But my God his truck sounds perfect. Aggressive start, acceleration, screams when you stomp it, and quiet cruise.

Has anybody found a setup that doesn't get the helicopter sound or drone in v4? Is the GM Borla system the only one that eliminates this? I don't mind the v4 drone as much as I do the helicopter sound that seems to bother my ears (pressure wise). I have a Borla touring muffler installed, left the flapper and cut the resonator off and dumped over the rear axle. I guess I could either disable AFM or unbolt the flapper (but then I get the chirp commonly associated with the valve). I guess I can try that and just live with the chirp. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated - thanks!
