2014+ Exhaust Systems & Mufflers

Recommended Posts

I'm looking for a 2.75 muffler for my 5.3... Does anyone know who makes these? I looked on flow master and magnaflows website but they don't have any. I would rather weld one in instead of buying a whole system. And also, is there any specific offset or just straight in and straight out?

A muffler shop will be able to fit the muffler for you, a 3 inch won't be hard at all for them to fit. I accidentally bought a 3.5 inch and they made it fit. Mine is a straight in-straight out muffler.

Did you have them do any deletes? like the resonator or anything? Im assuming you would want to change mufflers but also delete the huge resonator/cat that is closest to the tail pipe end.

Tune is inevitable for me as well as corsa exhaust. The toss up comes with headers or CAI? Hell their within 200$ of each other.

I will likely go CAI. Headers would be awesome but too loud for daily driving. So to have that effect get a valve to switch from the exhaust to dumps. Idk how much that cost. But best of both worlds if you want to drive quietly and off road with it screaming.

With the right catback set up, headers can be extremely quiet. The headers + corsa on my crew cab is nearly as quiet as stock when daily driving. It was actually too quiet for me so I put an exhaust cutout in to wake it up abit.

$2,300 for catted y pipe and headers, then you have to have it tuned..... but man does it sound good

If you just want the noise, you can easily run headers without a tune. It will flip a CEL on a regular basis for cat efficiency, but some sort of scan tool can easily clear that.

Question...I want the performance advantage headers can provide but want the quietest setup for daily driving and towing on the weekends. Do you have the Corsa Touring? Any chance you have some sound clips?

Thinking outloud here since I really don't have any first hand experience with this...Could a guy just run Long tubes and catted Y pipe with the remaining exhaust stock? Am I killing any performance gain?

Like I said I want it pretty mellow until about 2500 RPMs since that is where it sits when I tow my trailer but after that loud is good.

I have the Corsa touring on my crew cab, but from the looks of it, they no longer offer it for the new trucks. I'll see if I can get a video this weekend. All of my current ones are with the cutout open so it's got a significant bark to it.

With my 2009, I did run the long tubes with the factory exhaust for awhile and I wasn't happy.. The factory muffler isn't designed for headers so it droned like crazy. The headers and the corsa touring was actually quieter in comparison.
