2014+ Exhaust Systems & Mufflers

Where can I hear a gm borla in person?

Good question.......my dealer installed one system on a stock truck just to showcase the exhaust. Apparently, it doesn't seem to take very long and someone falls in love with it and it's sold. So they do up another one for stock. Good marketing strategy.

Possibly you could ask your dealer to look up any of his customers that have purchased the system, and they might put you in touch with them. Just customer service to me, and it may help them sell another system. I'm sure anyone that has one would be more than happy to show it off to you.

I did not buy a truck for the fuel mileage. If I lose .5 to 1 mpg then I'm willing to pay that for the magnaflow. It is an extremely well designed system amd comes with polished tips that look really nice. Plus I bought the magnaflow system and the Diablo Intune tuner for a similar price of the GM Borla system. Don't get me wrong. I think the GM Borla system is really nice but I am happy with the setup I've chosen..

I agree with you Jay.......most won't care about the small hit you will take to the fuel mileage. I was very happy with my MF system on my last truck, and I do agree, they are a very well made system. Hey if it's good enough for "Chip Foose" it must be good. In all honesty, it was just a little bit louder than I would have preferred, and I'm pretty sure at the time I had their largest muffler, which would have been the quietest they offered.. My son has the truck now, and he loves the sound. I think the level of sound you prefer has a direct relationship as to how old you are. And you are certainly correct about the pricing. The Borla isn't cheap, but what is when you are forced to order it through GM.

As I said, I'm sure the GM Borla won't be aggressive enough for a lot of the younger fellows, but it seems to me to be just that little bit quieter, which is my preference.

If you like aftermarket exhaust system you will like the Borla. It's performance exhaust with class. Very refined but a bit pricey. If you have a 2014 and haven't tuned out V4 then you should definetly go with the GM Borla.

I had the non-GM Borla without the valve and loved it except for V4 mode. I got the non-GM Borla because you can't get dual out with an exit behind each tire (split side exit) in the GM Borla kit.

15LTZZ71.......I've read a number of your posts and if I remember correctly, you returned your "Non-GM Borla" system and got a full refund. Did you eventually go with a GM Borla, or did you end up with something else?

I think that question is for me?

I never replaced it because I knew that I wasn't keeping this truck.

Absolutely right.....sorry about that.

How long did you haved the "Borla" system on your truck before you got rid of it? In that time, did you notice any "Break-in" period, and was there any change in the tone or sound level?

Lastly........why did you get rid of your truck.

I didn't have it on my truck long enough to get thru a break in period.

Getting rid of the truck for tons of reasons however, vibration and front brake drag are the top 2. Of course all of the problems are normal characteristics of the vehicle as designed, cannot duplicate, or cannot duplicate consistently enough to be able to diagnose.

Edit: 2015 is on order through the trade in assistance program.

So to clarify the GM Borla system should/will not have any drone in V4 mode? I want a subtle growl, no drone, and do not want to diable V4.

I had the muffler on back replaced. Had a single Flowmaster Super 44 muffler with single in/dual out muffler with black tips at 45° and it sounds awesome. I was worried it wouldn't be as loud as I was hoping because it was so quiet when stock, but I love the sound and how loud it is.

V4 does work. You can hear when it's in V4 mode. I actually like it because it sounds sort of like an 18 wheeler's jake brake.

Sorry to hear about you troubles......you must have had one of the early build models. It seems to me that a lot of the issues that were present with the early production models were rectified on later build units. I was very near the end of the 2014 ordering "window", and my truck was not actually built until late June 2014, and so far I haven't found a single thing that I could complain about. It's a little scary, because usually you can find something.

Anyway, this tells me they got their act together, and your new 2015 should be a gem.

Are you going to do the GM Borla exhaust on your new one?

I might just keep it factory quiet.

I hope my 15 is problem free because this 14 has got me worn out.
