2014+ Exhaust Systems & Mufflers

Recommended Posts

I have read a bit about the "drone" or Helicopter sounds when switching from V8-V4. Is this something that cannot be overlooked or ignored? Is the sound too much to bear?

I am looking into Gibson, Flowmaster, Corsa and MagnaFlow, anyone have any definite pros or cons?

I have the Gibson exhaust, and while I can hear it when it switches back and forth, it's no big deal to me. It's noticeable, but not obnoxious. Edited by Fasthotrod

Not at all too much to bear with the 18" magnaflow. I am very OCD and have a 2 hour road trip most weekends. The noise is not bad or unbareable at all. Talking between passengers can still be carried on like normal without needing to speak louder than normal or anything.

I've had the kit on for 4200 miles now and here's what I've found:

Pros:

- Sounds great on start up

- Idle isn't too loud or too quiet

- Louder than stock all around but not overbearing at any time.

- like a fine wine it's getting better with age

- when you rev it next to a Prius they can hear you hurt the environment [emoji23][emoji23] just thought i would throw that in there haha.

Cons:

- honestly, none found.

I have to agree... I have the 22" Magnaflow with Rez and Flapper delete and at first I couldn't really hear that much of a difference from the stock muffler. But it keeps getting better as I drive more miles!

That sounds about perfect. I don't want "loud" I just want to hear it when I want to hear it. I don't want to hear much if any difference cruising down the highway during my daily commute but want to hear it accelerating and just general horsing around.

If you see an Iridium Metallic Denali chasing you through Lees Summit it's just me trying to hear your truck. HAHA (I live right by Unity Village)

Haha... I'll be lookin' for ya! I am liking the exhaust sound more every day. I was considering the 14" Magnaflow. Glad I didn't.

Think I am going with either the Corsa 14866 (kinda like the black tips with the iridium metallic color? agree?) or the Borla 140577 ATAK. Has anyone actually heard the ATAK over the S-Type? Is the ATAK going to be as loud as lets say the flowmaster american thunder. If so I dont think I am going to go that redneck since it is a Denali. Ive read all the thread here, but not so much info with the 6.2L atak system or even the s-type. Thanks!

Kinda agreed, havent seen one for the new one unless someone has a link for the new 6.2L online.

Also what is an average price for install at a muffler shop for a catback system these days for a full size? I havent installed one since my Mustang back in 99 so I can't remember and two totally different vehicles obviously.

After having the 14" magnaflow with rev and flapper removed and having 3" stainless steel pipe to the red tail tip. It's only been 1 week and I'm very happy with sounds awesome when giving it gas, and start ups OMFG :) While cruising on the highway @69 U don't even kno it's there... In all I love it. Going on a little 140 mile beach trip with the wifey and are 10 month old this weekend. So I'll see what the boss says ... But it's not coming off my truck :)

Are you close to Edmonton? ABC Muffler & Hitch. They did a custom cat back on my truck and they are great!

I'm in Calgary and I've never had any issues getting a Corsa exhaust, or any other car parts. Summit racing easily ships here, but it would be worth giving the guys at Davenport Motorsports in Calgary a shout as they could probably have it shipped directly to you.

Just installed Corsa Sport on my 5.3 last night. Sounds great when you get it in. Not annoying when cruising.

Here is the comparison video. Check it out
