2014+ Exhaust Systems & Mufflers

So how much does it cost to get V4 tuned out? Should I just buy a tuner and do it myself with a custom tune? Pros and cons on doing this would be greatly appreciated. Obviously a pro is eliminating any V4 drone, but what else is gained/lost by tuning it out?

By tuning it out you could lower your MPG possibly. Also if the dealer sees that your truck was tuned then they can void your warranty. Sucks that they can finally tell when these trucks get tuned. I was gonna get mine done until I read that they figured out how to tell.

Get the range V8 device. It will eliminate V4 mode, installs in the diagnostic jack under the drivers side dash, easily removed and installed in seconds, can be left in all the time if vehicle is used as a daily driver, non-traceable when removed.

I just had my tune updated by Chuck @ https://www.facebook.com/chuckstuning he took out v4 but updated all my torque management and a few new A/F tricks and it feels great!!! BTW my mpg went up a bit on a 91 octane tune.

I would love to get a tune like that but don't want to void engine warranty. Yes, I'm scared to do it. LoL Edited by 14LTZZ71

I put a dynomax cat back system on my truck but the v4 done was way to annoying, so I swapped out the regular dynomax straight through muffler for the dynomax VT muffler with the "flapper" inside. I have to say it sounds much better and the drone is way down, I'm a happy camper.

I installed a Magnaflow 15565 (took it off my 2012 1500) yesterday on my 2014 crew cab 1500 with 5.8 motor. It installed with no problem at all, everything matched up except on the 2012 there was a extra hanger. I drove the truck around maybe 50 miles total yesterday after the install and everything seemed to work just fine, still dropped into V4 and the mileage seemed to be about the same. So for everyone wondering if the old system will fit and work it will.

To add on to SF Silverado. I bought a dual exhaust setup from one of the guys at work that he took off his 09 for $100. Took me about 45 min on my lunch today to pull it in my bay and put in. Has a flow master 80 and sounds so much better and definely a slight improvement in power

anyone with a 6.2 can tell me what size muffler inlet/outlet i need? Is it 3.5" like the last years? Im ordering a borla XR-1 15x5 for mine.

The stock muffler is 3” in and out. The pipe upstream is 3.5” but necks down right at the muffler, you’d probably cut off the necked down part anyway. Downstream the flapper right off the muffler is 3” but it necks back up to 3.5” pipe. Assuming you’re removing that as well, a 3.5” muffler is what it work the best.

This Friday Im cutting everything out from Y pipe back (including 3rd converter). Going with 3.5" pipe into an 18" magnaflow single in/ dual out right in front of rear tire with dual rectangle flat black tips like the old camaros.

I think it is supposed to help cut down on noise or anything similar in the stock exhaust when the truck cuts down into V4. But most of us are getting rid of it when installing aftermarket exhausts
