2014+ Exhaust Systems & Mufflers

Recommended Posts

these new trucks have almost no sound, GM was very successful at making them quiet.

Whoa! That is truth! My new truck sounded like a Camry... And my Vette sounded like a HONDA! Haha! (Not now... Mr. Billy Boat took care of that!)

The Magnaflow #15318 exhaust with the kenworth stack has been removed! I now have my factory 6.2 exhaust back with a 22" Magnaflow muffler and a custom tail pipe w/ no flapper or resonator and I'm happy as a pig in sh-t! Sounds awesome not to loud, no drone except an annoying flutter sound in V4 which I had with the cat back exhaust. The only thing that sounds like crap is my Volant CIA. I ordered a airaid MIT 200-996 tube and a couple of threaded PVC adapters so hopefully the factory air box is quieter.

I did the aFe exhaust. I was wondering at first when i installed it. Its quiet. but now its broken in and has a nice low rumble. Best decision on exhaust ive made in a long long time.

Just ordered mine.. arriving on 5/15/14 and will most likely install over the weekend. Any pics/vids of your setup?

I thought I had read somewhere that the exhaust valve was to help with drone in V4 mode?

Jeff Luke, Executive Chief Engineer for the Chevy Silverado talks very briefly about the valve at the start of this video. Don't blink or you'll miss it.

The valve is there to interrupt the exhaust pulses when the engine goes into V4 mode. Without the valve you will probably have what everybody is referring to as V4 drone or flutter, unless you get an aftermarket exhaust where the manufacture has figured out a way to tune it out without using a flapper valve.

Or by tuning out V4 mode completely.

My exhaust has no "Crapper" and it still uses DOD/AFM and you can hear the exhaust note change however it is not a drone by any stretch of the imagination nor is it a flutter sound. You can just hear it get a little bit deeper like its hungry. aFefor the win!
