2014+ Exhaust Systems & Mufflers

Recommended Posts

Reading through here and listening to the sound clips, I think I'm going to go with Volant cat-back. This is the link to it but the only thing I don't like is the giant tip so I think I'll cut it off and weld it back on so it's hidden under the bed.

Thoughts?

Just an FYI, you can get that cheaper on AA or Ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/381588037256?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Same quality?

New is new in my book. Should be the exact same product as long as the part numbers match.

I have heard good reviews on this exhaust. I was thinking of getting it as well.

Oh, I just noticed it's from autoanything.com so you're right, same quality. I'm going the safe route and going through them since it gives me the option for standard bed instead of short bed.

so I called the local shop for pricing and asked about deleting the flapper and resonator, they can do it but they said it wont be stainless steel, does that sound correct? with a tip welded on the 14in magna flow and deletes was 220.00

The exhaust shops around here don't carry stainless piping because of the price. Should all be aluminized tubing which will last for quite awhile.

Yes, most shops use aluminized steel. That's what is nice about the kits because most are all stainless (like stock system). If you want to do stainless you may want to ask them if you could bring them a section of stainless pipe and then they could use that to replace the flapper and resonator (can find those on ebay or summitracing.com, etc. all day for about $40 shipped). But the welding rod probably isnt going to be stainless steel so its really just how particular are you wanting to be...

I just put on the Dynomax kit and swapped mufflers for the 14" Magnaflow. She drones! It doesn't bother me like some people make it out to be of an Apache helicopter attack... But its more of an annoyance that I feel like everyone around me thinks something might be wrong with my truck lol - sounds bogged down and/or like a misfire. No regrets thus far but am wondering if maybe installing the flapper in front of the MagnaFlow would help it

Vid/pics to come!

I assume the flapper and resonator affect the sound? is it necessary to remove those? benefits over CONS of keeping them?

I've got 2 shops in the area that Im working via email with. As much as I love the sound of that Volant system. im looking at half price for almost same sound and set up.

So was messing around on search tempest to look for stuff for the truck in the Midwest. Ran across a GM Borla catback for 400 bucks. Picked it up tonight and looks new in box. I need to order tips for it still but cant believe the deal.

Get a Range AFM Disabler. Trust me you will love it after that.
