KN Air Filter, Will this void warranty?

Recommended Posts

If you heavily oil the filter, the oil from the filter can coat the wires in the MAF sensor.  The MAF sensor documents the amount of current it takes to heat a wire to a certain temp.  The more air flowing into the engine, the more heat removed from the wire by air passing over it, therefore, the more current required to maintain a certain temp.  The Intake Air Temp (IAT) sensor helps the computer calculate the airflow from this info.

The oil coating the wires (that get heated) distort the reading of the MAF.  To solve this problem, there are several aerosol degreasers that will clean the wires easily and inexpensively, and not void your warranty.

The short answer is NO.  This will not void your warranty, because it will not cause the warrantied part to FAIL.
