Just talked to my dealer who has one of the largest and nicest service departments in the State. They talked directly to the guys at GM. They are aware of the issue. The problem is NOT with the small plastic piece at the front with the de-frost vents. It's with the whole dashboard unit (the soft touch piece). Only solution is to rip everything out and replace the whole dash....It's driving me crazy and I'm gonna have them do it. Mine is the worst I've seen from all the other pics I've seen so If you guys can live with it by all means that's my recommendation. Otherwise your dealer should replace the whole dash under warranty. Wish me luck.......this could get ugly.

FYI they (Shaheen) are the #2 dealer by volume in the state I am sure they will take care of you. If not I am sure you will make sure their CSI score suffers.

It will be a huge PITA to rip the entire dash pad out that is true but any good tech should be able to get it back together without any squeaks or rattles. It's the hacks that don't put all the screws back in, don't replace the 1 time use clips or re install the wiring harnesses back in the retainers that cause all the headaches that guys like me end up sorting out. I own an independent shop here in Lansing and I have personally had service done there (warranty work). They have yet to disappoint me. I cannot say that about one of the other local dealers who worked on the wife's Regal. Trust me when I say I am probably the most critical customer when it comes to having my vehicle serviced by someone other than myself.

I bet the "Normal Dash Warping" K2 TSB is getting ready to roll out soon. I would frame that and hand it next to the "Normal Engine Knock" TSB of the GMT 800's.

You know what, if they'd put out a TSB that would be a great start. I am curious though, GM customer service is quick to post on these threads about helping to get

things fixed. They've been mum on this one.................

Hello everyone,

I do apologize in my delay in responding, I have been out of the office. I understand that some of you are concerned about your vehicle's dash board regarding warping. I am happy to look into this concern for you. Could you please private message me referencing this thread if I can be of any assistance?

Best regards,

Jennifer T.

You obviously don't care about YOUR money... but I, and probably 90% of car buyers out there WORK DAMN HARD for their money, and expect something for it in return.

I think it is more a matter of picking your fights. As I said earlier, my truck has a rattle in the dash for a couple of weeks in November, and then again for a couple of weeks in early March. Having had to fix this type of issue back in the late 70's, I am well aware of how hard it is to locate a rattle, that is environment related.

I am willing to bet there are many issues like this wrong with your truck right now. You just have not noticed them, yet.

Outside things in about half the world have to endure large weather swings. Asking two different pieces of plastic, different thickness, different length between fasteners, attached to a third piece of plastic, that have to be assembled in such a fashion as to prevent noises from flex, and stay exactly the same length, at every temperature, and while doing this, it has be able handle the swing in temperature from -30F to +80F thirty minutes later. I am amazed that all it does is look a bit out of place for a few weeks every year. Is this only in the 2014 models? Does the 2014 model have two different dash layouts like the previous generation?

I had a cracked dash in an 01 Dodge Ram at 39k (and any of you say that it was out of warranty can F Off, A dash should last longer than the warranty)....... They refused to fix it, 4 (non Dodge trucks) Later....... Burn me once, ok but I'll be damned if I'll give you the chance again.

Hope GM does the RIGHT thing and takes care of the issue and keeps customers....

My dealer is going to fix it. Those of you who think we should just be ok with the problem that's just your opinion. My 2012 f250 never had an issue and neither did my 2013 wrangler. Nothing wrong with expecting a product to come as advertised. My dealer said if I'm not happy with it after it's fixed then new truck for me. They also talked to their GM rep and a buy back may be possible as well.

An issue that bothers you may not bother someone else. Nothing to do with opinions. My opinion would be about your reaction to it, not mine.

With so many people suddenly seeing this issue 6 months after they went on sale should tell you there is something common that just happened. This is most definitely due to temp change effect on the three different pieces where they come together. Does not make it less of an issue to you. Does not make it normal. I would imagine that to you, it does not matter how it happens to your truck, you simply do not care how, just fix it. I don't think that way, I want to know how it happened, that way I can look at the fix and know in my mind if the fix is going to work or is it just going to delay it happening again within the next 3 years.

You do realize that when GM does a buy back, you do not get all your money back. You get to absorb some of that first year depreciation. Even those special deals where you take the vehicle for 90 days and if you don't like it they will take it back cost over a grand on a $20k vehicle.

This is one of those conversations you need to print out, and put it away somewhere. Take a look at it in 20 years, see if you still feel the same way.

Not really sure what your point is exactly but I appreciate your input. I'm pretty sure in 20 years when I buy a product and it's defective I'll be disappointed that it has that defect to some extent at least. Big defect or small, hugely disappointed or just a little. Or it will be as advertised and I'll be happy! I hope the day never comes when if I purchase something and don't think it was a fair trade I don't stand up for myself and my hard earned money.
