22" Wheel Ride Quality?

that brings up a point i didn't think about. i had goodyear eagle's on my 20's, and bridgestone dueler's on my 22's. i didn't want the bridgestones but was told they are a "better" tire. I read that a lot on the forums also, but I'm not sure after feeling the difference in ride comfort.

and it's not just me, my wife and father in law both noticed. so i'm not totally crazy. i kinda wish i had gone with michelin or goodyears again because my truck is 100% mini van soccer mom ride.

Michelin doesn't make a 285/45/22.

It's not the tire brand that's contributing to the harsher ride, it's the 22" size with the smaller sidewall. You have more weight in the wheel and a thinner sidewall, you're going to have a harsher ride.

i've said that in this thread a lot but people don't seem to believe that.

It's not that no one believed you but there's many things to take into consideration. Tire pressure of course, temp, road force, brand, suspension, load, section width, Compound (softer rubber with lower tread wear) preference, and opinion of course. I've had many GM trucks and have had from 17's to 24's. I couldn't tell much difference between 17's and 20's. I don't find my 22's harsh but, were a tad harsher running a higher pressure but now running a lower pressure I'm really satisfied with the ride quality. From a 20" to a 22" with the overall I.D., there's a 1" difference in the sidewall on bottom of the tire where it contacts the road. The sidewall height is determined by sidewall aspect ratio (35, 45, 50 etc), section width (265, 285, 305) and O.D. I can surely say my 24's (35 sidewall) were somewhat harsher. Some say 22's aren't as smooth some say they are. Some say the F-150 rides better than the GMC/Silverado some say the GM trucks ride better. A friend owns a 2014 F-150 and says his truck rides better than his cousins '14 Sierra. I drive a 2014 F-150 at work and I find my Sierra rides better. So who decides which is right and which is an illusion (Thanks Justin Hayward :) ). Same goes for tires.
