Should I trade, or avoid?

Thinking about trading my 2011 Silverado 1500 for a 2013 or 2014 Ford F-250 crew cab.

I have never been a Ford fan, and I have heard a lot of bad things about the PowerJoke diesels. However, I can't get over how much more room the Super Duty Ford trucks have in the cab over the GM trucks. I am 6 ft 3. My head almost hits my roof in my 1500, I actually feel small inside of a full size half ton. I drove a F-250 for work a few months ago and was amazed that i still had a foot of room between the top of my head and the roof. I felt so much more comfortable and relaxed because I was in a more spacious interior.

I haven't wheeled and dealed yet, wanted to see if anyone knew anything about these trucks before I bother to investigate trading in.

Thoughts?

Walk around to the service bays & you will more than likely see a lift for lifting the cab forward off the frame. That is how they do most engine work.

Always liked how they looked & the interior is pretty cool, just could not get past the unbolting the main body plus lift to work on it.

That's exactly what my hang up is right now.

I mean really, who designs a vehicle in such a way that it requires separating the cab from the entire frame?

I thought about the gas engine, but from the research I did, the 6.2L is pretty darn thirsty in a heavy 3/4 ton truck. Just an empty 3/4 ton alone must make the 6.2L work, not? Most guys on the Ford forums are reporting about 12MPG city. I get between 16 and 17 on my commute right now. Not sure I could afford a 5 MPG drop.

My brother has a 2010 with 8000 klm on Motor. F250 FX4. 5.4Litre.... Thirsty Yes, Famous Rear spring sag Yes, Leather Seats are uncomfortable and hard,

I do like the carbon fibre dodads, and he wants to trade it for a Denali or Escalade.Oh Yes I forgot the man step tailgate.... Never Used !!!

It has nice under rear seat storage tray. More options than my GM Sierra but the ride is not as nice in the Ford. Cab room is what you are looking for then the Mega Cab (dodge).

IMO, Scooby

Ford he has is approx. 16 Litres per 100 Klm. Real Life Driving

I sat in a new Ford and was amazed at how much roomier it was over the Sierra, especially legroom, much more comfortable. This alone could be the deciding factor in the future.......I'm 6'3" and just can't get totally comfortable in the GMC.

I have an 07 F250 FX4 w/ 6.0 Powerstroke, I absolutely love it and can pull 20 MPG with ease on the highway. My kids have more room in the backseat than they do in the wifes Yukon XL. The Powerstroke had some issues in the 6.0 and 6.4 versions but most were caused by poor maintenance and adding programmers. If you keep up on oil changes and fuel filters and do not go adding a ton of boost they actually will last a long long time. I have the heated leather and while some may think they are hard as mentioned above I find I am able to sit in them much longer than I ever could in my Silverado or the wifes Yukon.

I had 2 F-250's; one was an 2000 V-10, and the other a 2004 Crew Cab with the diesel. Both were uncomfortable & had BOTH had very sloppy steering. I would NOT buy a Ford again. Just my $.02.
