4hi only transfer case want a low range

Sorry folks if this topic has been discussed, I did not find answer after doing a search and this is my first post after just finding this group..

 

I have a 2010 Chevrolet Suburban 1500 LT, the vehicle has the autotrack transfer case with 2wd and 4 hi only. I do not have a 4lo, i think Chev/gm refers to this as a single speed transfer case, not sure.. I am told this was done as a cost saving measures

 

anyways. I want to have an option of 4LO. I am not looking for a rock crawler, I do want an expedition vehicle, I travel in snow, sand and often on forestry roads. Apart from doing a transfer case swap to make my truck into a stock 4 low range which I am not even sure that is doable, do I have another option to make my truck have a low range? can I install a locker or something?

You already have a rear locker (option G80). And no there isn't a cost effective way to install low range unless you get a new switch and complete transfer case assembly. You can however install a small lift with larger tires that will get you through where you need to go. I never really use my 4lo anyways. Get out there and try it out, maybe you won't even use it. Your truck has a ton of power.

Yeah my 4LO is too torquey to use in mud or on a trail. You will just dig yourself into a rut. First time I engaged it, it snapped me back into my seat!

 

And like Taylor said above, you would need a new tcase, dash switch, and then have your computer reflashed I believe so it will recognize it, but Im not too sure on that, maybe it is a whole separate system, but yours is a 2010 so everything is ran off the computer

I have only used my low range once, and that was to see if it worked. I don't even use it when I pull people out.

 

Lower gears in the front and rear would give you what you want I think.
