Please help me decide on new truck

Recommended Posts

I am pondering selling off my 2011 LT duramax CC with 44k on itHighly optioned truck.Dealer has offered me $42,500CDN which to me is a fair deal.I only owe about $8k on it.Thinking of investing equity as it just dissapears in lost value.I am thinking of returning to leasing as I am self employed and can right off full lease.Truck I am looking into leasing is a blue granite metallic double cab.2lt package so Z71 18" tire package bench style seat with console, auto climate large infotainment screen,5.3 with 3.40 gears.Truck seams nicely optioned.Heated seats, front power driver seat, dual express down windows, towing packages with brake control.decent control, manumatic shifting, auto 4x4.Not really missing any options other than leather and a few do dads.Lease would be 3 yr 60K about $490 taxs in with $2500 down buy out 20k MSRP right around 48k on truck.I used to lease until rates took off and don't like having all that cash tied up in truck.Don't really need duramax just thought I would like to try once to get off my bucket list.Lets hear your opinions All prices Canadian British Columbia

Thinking on doing the same because I no longer pull weight requiring the heavier truck. Mine Dmax is a similar GMC.

Why don't you purchase the new one and take yearly depreciation. Your business accountant can compare the after tax costs of lease vs buy. Obviously, if you buy you don't have ongoing payment and don't have to worry about balloon payment at end.

I hear you about not having cash tied up, but once it's paid off......

Have you driven the 5.3 L with the 3.42's? How does it feel compared to the Dmax. Did you compare when in a 'pulling out to pass' situation? I've haven't driven one yet and have been assuming that the difference in available torque will be VERY noticeable (given that the LML has it's 765 ft-lb's available at such low rpm.

obviously the 5.3 will not be nearly as powerful as an LML.. but you have to drive one and see if you can live with the difference. but the half ton platform trucks are smoother, better handling, easier to drive then a 3/4 ton truck.

The old adage once its paid off never works for me as buy then its old and no warranty.I am probably going to go with 1lt crew cab 6.6' box in blue topaz. The only real differance in options is the Z71 but with the way this truck is configured the only thing missing is the hill decent control. Not a biggy since new 1/2 ton has the manumatic shifting on the column. Its never going to pull like an LML but with diesel 12-14 cent/litre higher again for winter and the fact that I don,t pull more than about 7000lbs I probably won't miss my LML.I like leases as I can write it all off and get something new again in 3 yrs.My LML needs tires for winter so these thing are never paid for.Yes much smoother and better around town, the 5.3 is way torquier between 1500-2000 rpm than my 08 5.3.

Not to be a negative nancy but from what you listed there's actually plenty of options that could be added....

If I wanted it all I would get and LTZ but just too cheap.I only like to get what I need and like.LTZ with 20's is almost 10k more.To me the trailer towing package is a must as well as auto climate.I do like the fact you can get heated seats with cloth now and both front windows are express down.I hate rear sliders and sun roofs.

I didn't realize you could get heated cloth seats that's cool
