Muffler Delete

Recommended Posts

Man, I am so close to doing this instead of paying $7-800 dollars on the magnaflow dual exhaust. But I do like the looks of the dual pipes coming out the back. How does magnaflow deal with the V-4 drone though?

I got my flowmaster system for $500 shipped and it allows you the option to run the pipes straight back or to the sides (you get one or the other w/ the magnaflow) and it does not drone in 4 cyl mode. I don't know about magnaflow on the new trucks, but in my 07 silverado and 08 G8 the magnaflow DID drone badly when AFM kicked in on both vehicles, I solved it w/ my GTO by first tuning AFM off, and then completely removing the hardware altogether

I don't know how to post a vid of the flowmaster system if someone knows how tell me and I will. I'm very pleased w/ it so far.

From autoanything *hint* the more times you go and look at an item on their website the better chance of you getting an instant coupon/discount for one time use...which is what happened for me. You can put it on yourself, but make sure when you order it to note whether or not you have standard or short bed because you'll need a 1.5' extension pipe. I had to cut the very tail section of the stock exhaust to get it off.

I just looked the one on Autoanything is 649, the $75 rebate expired OCT 31 but they are still offering, which makes it almost 600 bucks. So I dont know. I want exhaust but was looking closer to 500, IMVHO to spend big money on exhaust on these trucks is nuts.

Anybody notice worse or better MPG with exhaust.

I posted the vid of the flowmaster in both the "magnaflow" and "muffler delete" threads if anyone is interested

CrushNchowda what are your plans for your factory exhaust? Would you be interested in letting it go?

Maybe, but why would you want to buy it?

I tried the muffler delete (the subject of this topic) and I really don't like the way it sounds. It made mine sound like a V6 for some reason. I'd like to go back to stock and don't want to get raped by the dealership, I decided I like it better quiet.

I have started to notice a spitting type sound on occasion under part throttle that sounds like a tarp flapping in the rear. I am wondering if it is the rear flapper valve?
