I've got a 2002 Chevy Venture with 326,000 miles. I'm adding about 3,000-ish miles per month. runs great, best vehicle I've ever owned.

You are one lucky individual.  We had a 2002 Venture and at 35k the intake and heads leaked coolant into the engine.  It didn't damage the engine since I caught it with used oil analysis (UOA).  I showed the UOA to the dealership and they checked the engine with a leak check and confirmed.  Had the heads replaced and new intake gasket all under warranty.  Then again at 110k more coolant in the oil, again found on the UOA.  So we said that was it, traded it in for a 2008 GMC Acadia.  The fact that you are getting that mileage out of one is a miracle and doing something right.  Just curious as to how often you are changing the oil and what brand and filter?

I'm at 103k ... ?

Transmission just blew 3 & 4 today. Already on differential #2. My guess is my engine is next. Probably another 10k miles or so, IF I'm lucky. ?

Anyone reading this thread that owns a 2006 or older, take my advise - you'd better hang on to it!! ☝️

My name is Mike Bone im in Greensburg, Louisiana as you can probably tell im new to this forum stuff,im not sure were this info is actually gonna end up at.I'm not in the "High Mileage" club but I came across the topic by accident and had to share my truck and mileage. Its quite frankly an AMAZING 2011 SILVERADO 1500 4.8 WITH 4L60E 369,911 original miles. ORIGINAL MOTOR AND TRANSMISSION Believe it or not only thing that's been replaced is 4 shocks, 1wheel bearing, alternator, battery, and radiator and more tires than I care to mention. Granted its all hiway miles but I put everyone of them on it and It still runs like new...no really it does. Has low oil pressure when cold started but once it warms up its fine...im planning on making it to 500,000

Hi All,

I have put every one of the 310,000 miles on my 2005 GMC Sierra 1500HD SLT Z-71. i live in atlanta and mainly commute to and from work and occasionally pull a boat.  I have had extremely good luck with this truck. Transmission went out at 49,950 miles and they put put a new one in since still under 50,000 mile warranty. That just doesn't happen to me.  I've had fuel pump. water pump, some A/C work and that's about it. I'm trying to make it last to hand down to grandson when he turns 16 (he's 12 now). I figure he should be able to walk away when he has his first wreck in that truck. i've been thinking about putting a new engine in. Drops Oil pressure  at stop lights on idle and chiming starts to alert. i have to put in neutral and rev it above idle. Kinda of a pain, but i've gotten use to it. it also developed what i'm told is the "GM tick". knocks or ticks  all the time except first couple three weeks after oil change. Engine still runs strong with plenty of pick up and power.  About a month ago it started overheating and leaking coolant  i had to put a 1/2 gallon of antifreeze in every couple of days. so I started shopping engines. Then,  Mysteriously, the leak stopped. kinda dumbfounded on that one. Mechanics say engine is shot and i would be foolish to pay $1,200 for new oil pump if I'm thinking new engine for about $7,500  so says the latest quote.  i've also developed a terrible shake in front end and steering wheel which may be rotors, but it only happens once every 4 or 5 days. Of course it never happens when mechanic tries to find. Other than that, the truck runs great and still looks good. i've looked at newer models and really disappointed how cheap and shoddy looking the interiors are. Not  to mention the seats are really uncomfortable compared to the big leather sofa type arm-chair seating that came stock. All in all, this has been a great ride. incidentally, i paid around $75k drive-out at the end of 05 or 17 years ago which is probably the equivalent of what ? $90k in today's dollars? i do run synthetic 5w30 oil and add the lucas synthetic additive every oil change. oh and one other thing,  Brakes have been a constant issue. that's probably more on the driver and Atlanta traffic than the truck, Seems like i've had a lot of brake jobs. Oh and i did replace the radiator about 3 years ago.

Any thoughts out there on a new or newer engine? I'm not a car guy and would starve if i had to mechanic for a living.

Thanks,

Dan

I have a 2006 Silverado 1500 (5.3) Z71 crew cab with over 302k miles. I’m it’s only owner and it’s my daily driver and work truck. Original engine and transmission never rebuilt. I’ve worked it like a rented mule, since new, but done all the recommended servicing myself as well as the normal maintenance due to wear and tear. Can’t beat these GEN 1 Silverado trucks, so easy to work on. My only complaint is that the paint doesn’t seem to hold up to all these years in the Alabama sun but the frame is completely perfect (no rust).IMG_0099.thumb.jpeg.de946fe1639ed44a88b5754e7de24c15.jpeg
