Engine Oil Supplement??

Recommended Posts

In the 2002 factory manual on page 6-1171 at the top, under Sealers,Adhesive, and Lubricants. There is an application noted as Engine Oil Supplement? with a U.S. & Canadian part# for it. Does anyone know what this is for? Is this the thing that takes away the cold start knock. that is not present when the truck is brand new off the lot???

Just A little curious?

thanks. All.

I've used GM engine oil supplement as a break-in additive for initial startup on most racing or stock engines that I have built. EOS has been out for many years and is a superb product for this purpose. :thumb:

The good old Engine Oil Supplement or EOS was a super good product for preoiling a engine before start up.  It was used as a lube while building the engine.  Put it on cam and bearings, rods and main bearings, lifters, and rocker arms.  GM quit making it in 1979 or 1980 because the main material in it was whale sperm.  I have heard that this new stuff has earned the name of the first because it is just about as good as the old EOS.  At one time we bought it by the case and we used it until late in the 80's before we used it all up.
