1st Time Tower

I'm just looking for any suggestions or advice before I take on this trip from MO to TX. I've got a 2008 Silverado 5.3L 7.5RCX Lift, 35s, 4.88 gears. I will be towing a 5ft x 9ft uhaul trailer with my FXSTC.

Just take it easy and remember its going to take longer to stop and go. I know its not alot of weight but you will know its there. Also remember you need more space to change lanes also. Happy towing!!

Make sure you stop and check your straps before you get to far. Things can move and come lose. Other then that backing up can be kinda hard for people new to a trailer

Make sure to check the trailer hubs a few times a day. They can get really hot and fail leaving you stranded on the interstate. On my own boat trailer, I always grease them before I leave. I check them every couple of hours and carry a grease gun with me on vacation trips. Also make sure the tire pressure is right near the max for the tire. Under inflated tires can overheat and blow.

Like fisher said, stopping takes longer with the extra weight. Increase your following distance to allow more distance to slow/stop. I like the little 2" round mirrors on my trucks for towing. My trailer is tandem axle, so the extra length makes it hard to see in the stock mirrors when turning. These mirrors also let you see the blind spots when turning or changing lanes.
