What sound are you going for? If you want your truck to sound like an obnoxious fart just cut the mufflers out and straight pipe it. You want it to sound good and throaty buy a Corsa system. If you do not mind drone in the cab the Borla XR-1 sounds good on these engines but do have drone in 4cyl mode

In V8 mode it will probably sound just like any other 5.3 ever produced with cut out mufflers (loud), but in V4 mode its going to sound horrible. In the 2014 trucks there is actually a mechanical valve system within the exhaust piping (its close to the outlet I think) that actively changes the exhaust profile when the trucks switches to V4 mode, so as to not produce a terrible exhaust note. So I would recommend to not just cut out the muffler, but to go to an exhaust manufacturer and see what they have done to modify the 2014s exhaust systems. Unfortunately these trucks aren't as easy to modify as they used to be.

That valve is a manual spring loaded valve that opens and closes based on pressure in the exhaust system...

Just finished and I love it!!!! I had a 2005 model with this set up and did not compare... The v4 mode is a little noticeable but nothing major... Might sound dumb but I saw a 1-2 mpg gain and the truck runs better IMHO... It's not annoying and is only loud over 3k rpms... Low rpm it's a mild sound!!!! I like it a lot, paid 320 out the door for true duals with pinched tips, and it was done perfect. Took my guy 3 hours.. Used 2 hangers at each spot instead of the standard 1. Then heated the hangers and bent around the pipe a little!!!! So hands down I would not change it if I could start over so consider me very happy with straight from the cats.... Thanks for all the input but this is what I personally like....

Awesome until it goes into 4 banger mode.

Can't tell!!!!!

My buddy did the same to his 14, sorry I couldn't post sooner. It sounds great! He put a Y pipe in place of the muffler and did dual pipes tucked on each side of the spare. Very slight difference in V4 but not annoying at all, just not quite as cool sounding. With the 3 cats on this new model it's not loud by any means.

So less than 24 hours since you started thread and you did the mod and can already claim 1-2mpgs better... IDK... Glad you like the sound though.
