Is normally agree but given the various questionable activities of the NYPD I have a hard time being open minded when any kind of corruption comes to light on them.

The above Kinda reminds me of shooting at an machanics garage they had in NYC I heard about a few years ago. The robber shot a cop, and another guy grabbed the downed cops gun and saved everyone. The hero was arrested for unlawful possession of a firearm.
